Patto

Just about everything

Comparison matrix showing the Goalkeepers from the top four clubs in the league.

You can say 'Everything' all you like, but the matrix shows that Patterson is a good shot stopper making 58 saves and he's around average for the other 3 in terms of percentages of shots saved.

His passing attempts are the lowest, and by far and away the worst in terms of accuracy. His clearances are also lower than the other three and he's kept the least clean sheets.

He's won by the least aerial duals, has the lowest number of clearances and he has conceded the most goals inside the box.

He lives in the line between the sublime and the ridiculous.Good shot stopper but his distribution is terrible. I’m not sure if we’d be better off without him

The biggest issue yesterday was O'Nien's header our and the scorer being free at the back post.

O'Nien did his job, Rigg got sucked in and lost his man which is why the Plymouth lad had so much space a few yards out.

That's not to have a go at Rigg, he's a young lad learning the game and discipline.

Not too dissimilar to Plymouth's first goal in that we lost our shape, Plymouth had 5 on 5, maybe 5 on 4, and players failed to get back and fill in. When Samed had the ball taken off him, Plymouth had a lot to do from there and we didn't deal with it as a team.

Patterson couldn't have done anything with the equaliser and was unlucky for the first in that the Plymouth lad didn't have the angle but it span off him and went in.

Just one of those days when the team looked disjointed after a bright first 25 minutes.

Patterson's fine. The answer the manager needs to find is which is his best formation in the middle of the pitch and which are the best players to suit that formation. Evidently, it's not what he played on Saturday.

jesus christ, you lots. Just because of one bad error and wanting to drop him!? He is not the only one, one of the other players on the pitch made several mistakes like poor passes, poor shots, poor position, poor markings etc and fans like you never moan that this player should be drop. Huh

Jeez, there's a lot of vitriol swilling around. Poor game management and defending by the outfield players was more to blame for both of the goals conceded than Patterson was. Could Patterson have done more to get better block on the ball coming back in? Probably not. Could he have done anything with the second? Again, probably not. We defended those two situations poorly.

Next time we play, keep an eye on the oppo 'keepers kicking performance. Booting it into touch is a more common occurrence than you might think. We're focused on Patto, casting aspersions because he doesn't kick like Jordan Pickford, when most other keepers are no better (many worse).

that doesn’t really tell you much though.

On the passing attempts it shows the other three go back to the keeper more times than we do and if the other three are making more clearances that to me sounds like they are under more pressure to do so than Patterson.

Conceding goals in the box isn’t just on the keeper but we’ve conceded the most out of the four sides so will have conceded more in the box than the others especially when more goals are scored from inside than out. If you look at it from a percentage point of view, Trafford has conceded 7 of 9 goals from inside the box

Stats aren't a complete indicator of everything, but everything I see personally from Patterson (great shot stopper, weak on crosses and doesn't command his box, atrocious kicking) seems to ring true.

Class info...he's still a very good keeper like

It's daft but that's social media now. I'm more than happy with him as our keeper. Young English local lad keeper and is getting digged out. Someone tell me who we have had in the last few years who is better than him? Honest question. He has my full support and should have from others
Our keepers in recent years are irrelevant it doesn't mean he can't be criticised if he makes mistakes.

I just think somebody has some sort of agenda against Patto. Others just pile in.

It's very odd. His goalkeeping, saving shots, punching away high balls, coming out and clearing danger is way above average. His distribution is average ( it will get better) but not many good keepers are good at distribution.
Butland had played for England, managed to punch in his net recently
