Patrick Roberts to Birmingham compendium

I’ve a lot of time for the lads been with us through the f***ing shite and did their best to pull us out. However we clearly have players with us still who aren’t premier league footballers and need other teams now. Roberts is one of them
This for me. Just don’t think he’s what we need even given Traore’s confirmed absence for a while.

Very grateful for all his contributions, but he’s no prem footballer.

We do need a RW this window to kick on further really, but paddy isn’t the player who takes us to that next level. If we can get a million for him and his wages off the books then fantastic, move him on.

To be fair to Roberts he looked a class player when he played with Amad and perhaps he would show more with better players around him. I doubt sides would double up on him in the PL which is what happened in the Championship
True. If it weren't for Roberts' very poor defensive ability, he'd be useful to us at the moment, especially with Traore out. Unfortunately, he is weak as piss defensively and that just doesn't work at all in our current system. It really doesn't work all that well at this level in any system.

So you're suggesting he made no other contribution to the team last season, then? You'd better tell RLB - he kept picking him for some reason.
He actually had the most assists n'all

He isnt weak as piss defensivley. Rlb had him playing quite defensive second half of last season, his workrate was second to none.

Having someone "play defensively," i.e. keeping him back to help out defensively, doesn't mean he's any good at it, even if he "puts in a shift" and works hard at it. I'll admit he did put in a shift, and was marginally adequate at it by championship standards, but by PL standards I think its fair to call him weak as piss.

I'd take him back, but i'm fairly sure he'd have no interest in returning to a team that allowed him to leave, and where he's currently enjoying a decent run of form.
pretty sure he’d want to try and prove himself as a premier league level footballer more than anything else

Whether bringing him back would be beneficial for either party I don’t know

Its not fair really as you've never seen him at prem level. Its just guess work
