Nice words, and all true. Pleased he got to play in the prem with us after joining in League one. Will always be grateful for Sheff Wed in playoffs, the assist at Wembley, and being at times a real touch of quality amongst dark days. You must be logged on to see external links
Seems a strange thing to say for just a loan?Patrick will always be able to call Sunderland home, and he will always be welcome at the Stadium of Light.
For all intents and purposes its permanent as doubt his contract will be renewed. Shame but will get over it eventually I guessSeems a strange thing to say for just a loan?
Anyway best of luck to the lad. Great player for us in our recent history. Sad to see him go however the club have unfortunately outgrown him.
Fair enough. I didn't realise he only had one year left. For all intents and purposes its permanent as doubt his contract will be renewed. Shame but will get over it eventually I guess![]()
Yeah is a shame as i thought he could offer something this seasonFair enough. I didn't realise he only had one year left.
Great post. I hope we see him at the SoL again during his career. I'm also delighted that he got on off the bench against Burnley so he got another PL appearance and can say he played for us in 3 divisions. The goal at Sheffield Wednesday, the assist against Sheffield United. Hell, even the fact he lost the ball which led to then getting it back and passing it to Keifer MooreIf he’s played his last game for us, then we all need to say a massive thank you to Patrick Roberts. He was instrumental in our rise to the PL, his goal against Sheff Wed in the play offs was possibly the most important goal in our recent history. Without it, the two play off wins may never had happened and we could well still be languishing in league one with all hope now gone. That’s without mentioning his contribution to the Championship play off final in May. He helped to change the game when he come on and his assist to Mayenda was top-drawer.
An absolute wizard with the ball at his feet and his work rate could never be questioned. Probably a lack of pace/strength and final ball/finishing has prevented him becoming a PL player for us, which is a shame.
Good luck in the future.
