He's as frustrating a player as I've seen in 50 years of watching the lads and yet I've still got a huge man crush on him.

Can he do a job in the PL - yes, I think I can.

The question is if he would be content to be a bit part player here with no guarantee of regular games. I'd think more of him if chose to give it a shot elsewhere.

True....suppose he cud help the physio carry the equipment....but dont think he can play in the Afcon

On the one hand if Roberts wants regular playing time, it's not helpful to keep him here against his will but on the other hand we're going to be losing four of the five first team midfielders we started against west ham for afcon and so we can't really be getting rid of all the backups.

Would be an odd choice to let him go out on loan, for me.

I think we should keep him, and as with Cirkin, we should be mindful as fans about how we criticise the players who have got us here, and how quickly we decide we're better than them. Roberts is a mercurial player, not every game situation will suit him, but whether he stays or goes, he's been a very good servant over the last few years and was an intrinsic part in the promotion.
