PAT Testing

The origins of PAT are interesting. Who drove it and why, what was happening in the Electrical Contracting arena at the time. There’s a lot of people out there still taking the piss.

Go on then. You can't leave us hanging like that!

I always thought it was a bit of a nonsense.

Ok so the PAT testing didn’t go to plan. They’ve failed the kettle, the iron and the only TV we have. So we’re reduced to drinking plain water, wearing wrinkled clothes (we have a lot of linen summer clothes) and watching TV on our iPhone 6 and iPhone 5s, respectively. Definitely not what we expected, but that’s the price to pay to keep you’re family safe.

Anyway, we’re going to the metro centre on bank holiday Monday to buy a new kettle, new iron and a new TV. Wish us luck because our budget for all the gizmos is £200, after paying for the PAT testing and the PAT tester bonus.

this has got to be a wind up (not read all the thread mind)

"They've".
How many PAT testers were there?

Been quoted £2k to get all electrical devices in the house PAT tested. Seems high to me, I do this every few years and I’m sure last time it was only £300-400, which is reasonable.

Anyone know anyone who can do this in East Boldon? Usually takes about a day, but provided the kettle is PAT tested first, you get unlimited cups of tea (not actually unlimited, accepting anymore than 3/4 teas is greedy and rude).
This has to be a wind up.
I've PAT tested hundreds, if not thousands of items over the years.
But in your own house, why?

As an experienced PAT tester, you should know more than anyone - safety.
Totally unnecessary.
It would be in law if it were otherwise.
It's for commercial and industrial use where the items could be more likely to suffer damage.
Your Class 2 (Double Insulated) telly and other such items don't need it.

Will mine does as it failed the PAT test. Having to watch bad girls and Hetty Wainthropp investigates on my iPhone til Monday.
