I renewed my DL online a few weeks ago and a new one came through within the week.

Won't let her do it online .. just says contact DVLA and supposedly lots of others have same problem... And when you call DVLA the phone lines just say we are busy and cut you off

Out of interest what happens when it is time to renew and you’ve barely filled half of the first page of stamps? Seems a waste of fancy coloured patterned paper no doubt expensively assembled to throw away a good passport when theirs so many pages left fill.

Renewed mine about 4 months ago, I was informed it could take up to 2 months when I did my application online but it came within 10 days.

Same here…did it all online …sent on the Monday passport back the following Tuesday

Pertinent though. You get a new one before you’ve had a chance to use the last one? Bit weird. If you’ve filed the document with x amount of of those travel stamps airports put in the book and if you’ve filled x amount of pages then you ought to get a new one. But if you haven’t and you’ve only got y and not met the amount of pages required then maybe they ought to give it an extension of some kind.

In which case, you need to fly to more places if you're environmentally aware

You'll get it quicker if you do it online and use one of those photobooths which give you a code. Assuming its a renewal and and you haven't lost it or anything.

I think those applications are dealt with by robots. Ones handled by humans take longer because humans are weak.

Did mine in June and it took a week, which seems to be the standard crack for online renewals. No fast track, just standard post.

Honestly if anyone is going away next year and your passport runs out next year please please please renew it now. Next to no one has applied for a passport since Feb of last year. All of those will be applying next year when they can all go away.

you might think you’re wasting a couple of months on your validity applying now but just do it.
