No club will ever get it right though as there’s not enough tickets to go around.
A quick look on twitter and I’ve seen Celtic Mags Doncaster Liverpool & Bristol City fans moaning about their systems.
Other than the daft ballots and random phases the SAFC system is fine
You can only buy an away ticket for the age category of the season ticket being used now
I think this is a valid point.
If you have the ability to buy an away ticket, (as you have the points), surely it is yours to do with what you like should you then not be able to go. Seems a nonsense as you say [in your scenario above ].
If there is an actual law stopping this, then perhaps the law needs looking at.

Not sure that's much of an issue nowadays as you cannot buy or transfer a concession to an adult account number.

Millwall away just went to season ticket holders with 0 points.
If you have just bought a season ticket this season and don’t have any points you can still get to 8/9 away games each season. Compared to some other clubs that’s amazing.
It’s the same argument all the time , this only comes about when certain people can’t pick and choose the local games they want to go to.
It’s boring .

Yes, and its perpetrated mostly by people who want to go to a couple of the shorter away games a few times a year and are outraged that they can't get tickets.

Exactly , the 8/9 was just off the top of my head so thank you
so in 3 seasons you can be in the top 1200 with over 60 points.
How do people think the fans on 60/70+ points got there in the first place ? By passing on tickets ??

Aye this in a nutshell. They would only cease to exist if it was people regularly using it that weren't entitled to that ticket in the first place

you know what always puzzles me with these threads? if the branches get all the tickets, why don't the twisty fuckers on here join a branch?
you end up knowing loads of people through the away games like. some of them now my good pals

Said that for years , the best thing anyone can do is join your local branch.
Membership is next to nothing and you’re in loop if any drop outs/ spare tickets are kicking about.

Anyone could have the points to go to every game if they’d done the hard yards in L1
On a serious note, there’s absolutely nothing stopping anyone from building up the points to be able to go to any game they want. Putting in the hard work is the bit people want to skip. Same with most things in life. The easy way isn’t always the right way.

Our branch are brilliant, bloke spends hours each week sorting tickets, travel and pub stops for people. Gets little/no thanks as people take it for granted, to turn up on a matchday at a specified time to hand over their bus fare and get a ticket in their hand. Without them there would be an awful lot of regular away game fans who wouldn't/couldn't get. Once he steps down I genuinely don't know who'll take over as people like him are few and far between. His wife was saying how its the first and last thing he does each night, going onto his computer to sort out bits and pieces.
Went to pick some ticket up for Preston game last week, he was telling me about the issues he had for QPR, went upto the ticket office 3 times to try and sort tickets out for the branch, because QPR were all digital and there was issues in receiving them. He spent a fair bit of time trying to sort it only for 4 of the lads to get refused entry when their tickets didnt work on the day.
Worth remembering as well with the changes the club brought it, that branches are limited to the number of tickets in each of the first 2 phases now IIRC. Sure it was 40 per application.

People seem to be missing the original point raised. It's not complaining about the loyalty point system we have. It's the fairest way to distribute tickets and ensures those that do go regularly can secure tickets.
But you will see a few people, the same faces/accounts pop up on social media hawking out their ticket for away games on a regular basis and artificially building up points it is a bit annoying. And will probably ensure they get a ticket for say boro away at the expense of others that don't do this but have still built up a decent number of points.
The point made earlier about the impact on branches being a negative one if we insisted on tickets being used by the relevant season ticket holder is fair, as is those that have to drop out last minute for whatever reason and ensuring tickets don't go to waste.
But the scale of the issue is quite small I think. If the club could easily identity those persistent offenders at offering season tickets for points I wouldn't be against a friendly warning letter being sent their way. But the ticketing side is run on a shoestring so not sure you could justify spending time on that currently.

Thats the thing, there will be people doing it and it's so hard to police, but in reality how many are we talking? 50/100 people? They also run the risk of buying tickets for 'less popular games' that make it to GS etc and not being able to sell them on I suppose.
