I’ve seen that happen.Punters using concessions and stealing money from the club is a bigger issue. Loads coming in on bairns tickets.
No club will ever get it right though as there’s not enough tickets to go around. It's an interesting point actually, and in most examples of high demand ticketing (eg gigs) it's done on a first come first served basis, or at best with a wide-open presale to a larger group of fans. I'm not advocating that for football, but it does beg the question around our assumption that those who go most often have first dibs. You could argue that is actually unfair to the wider fanbase, and we need a way to make the awayday experience a bit more accessible to more people (eg an open ballot for a small proportion of tickets, or a guarantee that for larger allocations there will be a general sale phase for a proportion).
All that aside, there's got to be an example somewhere of a club that gets this right, where the fans are happy with the system, that we could replicate.
You can only buy an away ticket for the age category of the season ticket being used nowI’ve seen that happen.
I think this is a valid point.... someone has to drop out on the day of the game (happens all the time) that ticket then can't be sold on, so an empty seat in the ground, a fan out of pocket, and another fan outside of the ground willing to pay for the ticket and use it but is unable to.
its an absolute nonsense
Not sure that's much of an issue nowadays as you cannot buy or transfer a concession to an adult account number.Punters using concessions and stealing money from the club is a bigger issue. Loads coming in on bairns tickets.
Yes, and its perpetrated mostly by people who want to go to a couple of the shorter away games a few times a year and are outraged that they can't get tickets. There's a myth now firmly in place that everyone on high points doesn't actually go to away games, but farms their number out. It's bollocks. The majority of people with the points go to the games.
correct. people just fuckin twist on because they don't get boro or sheff utd tickets but can't be arsed to schlep to swansea midweek.people are going on like we are man united and have 20,000 fans applying for each away game.
Millwall away just went to season ticket holders with 0 points.
If you have just bought a season ticket this season and don’t have any points you can still get to 8/9 away games each season. Compared to some other clubs that’s amazing.
It’s the same argument all the time , this only comes about when certain people can’t pick and choose the local games they want to go to.
It’s boring .
You know who the high pointers are as you see them at the away games , I don’t know people personally but you know the faces and they are there every game. There's a myth now firmly in place that everyone on high points doesn't actually go to away games, but farms their number out. Loads more than that tbf. If you'd bought a season ticket for the first time last season, you could have 26 points now.people are going on like we are man united and have 20,000 fans applying for each away game.

Exactly , the 8/9 was just off the top of my head so thank youLoads more than that tbf. If you'd bought a season ticket for the first time last season, you could have 26 points now.
Two wrongs don't make a right though as branches should only get tickets for the actual person who is going rather than just using their number
The vast majority of high pointers do go to every game home and away, it will only affect those who want to continue to collect points but only go to Hull, Boro, Leeds etc.
you end up knowing loads of people through the away games like. some of them now my good palsYou know who the high pointers are as you see them at the away games , I don’t know people personally but you know the faces and they are there every game.
Said that for years , the best thing anyone can do is join your local branch.you know what always puzzles me with these threads? if the branches get all the tickets, why don't the twisty fuckers on here join a branch?

Our branch are brilliant, bloke spends hours each week sorting tickets, travel and pub stops for people. Gets little/no thanks as people take it for granted, to turn up on a matchday at a specified time to hand over their bus fare and get a ticket in their hand. Without them there would be an awful lot of regular away game fans who wouldn't/couldn't get. Once he steps down I genuinely don't know who'll take over as people like him are few and far between. His wife was saying how its the first and last thing he does each night, going onto his computer to sort out bits and pieces.you know what always puzzles me with these threads? if the branches get all the tickets, why don't the twisty fuckers on here join a branch?

Thats the thing, there will be people doing it and it's so hard to police, but in reality how many are we talking? 50/100 people? They also run the risk of buying tickets for 'less popular games' that make it to GS etc and not being able to sell them on I suppose.People seem to be missing the original point raised. It's not complaining about the loyalty point system we have. It's the fairest way to distribute tickets and ensures those that do go regularly can secure tickets.
But you will see a few people, the same faces/accounts pop up on social media hawking out their ticket for away games on a regular basis and artificially building up points it is a bit annoying. And will probably ensure they get a ticket for say boro away at the expense of others that don't do this but have still built up a decent number of points.
The point made earlier about the impact on branches being a negative one if we insisted on tickets being used by the relevant season ticket holder is fair, as is those that have to drop out last minute for whatever reason and ensuring tickets don't go to waste.
But the scale of the issue is quite small I think. If the club could easily identity those persistent offenders at offering season tickets for points I wouldn't be against a friendly warning letter being sent their way. But the ticketing side is run on a shoestring so not sure you could justify spending time on that currently.
