Parkinson interview post Bristol rovers at home

Fact is that the squad is the best in the league and has been for two seasons. Ross never utilised anywhere near its potential and its only now that we are seeing that. Parkinson’s gone very basic and said if we don’t concede then the best attackers in the league will find a way to score goals. It’ll work in this league, but he’ll need a new plan if we go up.
We haven’t got the best attackers in the league man.

Ross's main problem was having 2 skinny centre halfs.

That stopped us getting promoted last season. I wonder what would have come of Ross and that team had we been promoted. I think we all know without massive investment we would have come straight back down. I have more faith PP will keep us up if investment is not forthcoming.

it’s worthy of note that last seasons promoted 3 clubs make up the bottom 2 and the other 4 or 5th bottom
We were 16th. With no win in 9 games and barely having a shot on target. It was more likely, at that point, going by form and performances that we would finish closer to the relegation zone that a promotion place.

In no way was the window successful. We improved one single position, CB.

we were never going to be relegated, it was only a matter of time before he sorted it out to one degree or another

Agreed. We are heavily reliant on Gooch and Maguire but our striking options are almost woeful compared to other top half sides in League One. A bit unfair to lump Semenyo and Lafferty in with them but Wyke, Watmore and Grigg have less than 10 league goals this season combined. Compare that to Peterborough, Fleetwood who have Evans and Madden, Ladapo and Smith at Rotherham and even Oxford have a 14 goal striker in Taylor.

i think peterborough have scored 20 more gials than us this season..from fewer games...they cant defend though..

That interviewer seemed to just provide his own quotes 😆.
it always seems to be like that with football interviews

"So how well do you think he did running down the wing to score that goal? He's scored 4 in the last 5 games now which seems like a great turnaround."

"Well he did a great job running down the wing and it was a lovely goal, he's been scoring much more recently".

It suits us as the attacking intent from our 2 central midfielders is minimal. Therefore it’s a well thought out plan for them to carry on down the line creating space as power and Dobson can sit in. Good management to develop that tactic with our bunch. Willis is the best fullback at the club!!
Loving it when Willis gets forwards. Delivers a canny cross as well

Completely disagree tbh, we have a clear attacking plan of overloading the wings and getting crosses in from the byline, in complete contrast to Ross’s tactics which were exactly like you describe, let the best attackers (mcgeady) figure it out.

Parky deserves credit for tightening up the defence and focusing the attack to our strengths and there’s no reason to suggest it wouldn’t work in the championship too imo

Was just about to post this.
