One of the funniest things I've ever seen *football wise)was my nephew playing for his kids team against a dad's team at Wallsend Boy's club (my brother lives up there). Part way through the game, one of the dads took off his top to reveal a Sunderland shirt. Cue much (fairly friendly) abuse, and being 'chased' by all the kids It was funny and taught me a bit about the rivalry in the North East. Still makes me smile.

Would love to know how his experience went behind enemy lines, unless he’s one of them now of course.

RIP to the OP, the stench finished him off.
To the O.P

What did you do when the beheaders scored first ?

And when Liverpool took the lead ?
I bet it was hilarious in all seriousness, watching them go from elation to watching Liverpool humping them without breaking sweat.

A few fights amongst themselves in the away end would’ve been the cherry on the cake

Well, that was an experience

Putting aside all the hilarious comments about my son / his uncle / me being a Mag etc etc, got to say that it wasn't very pleasant being there. Thanks to an Evertonian (apologies if I spoke to someone else who doesn't support the lads) I found a great spot to part nr Walton Hall Park, about 20mins walk from Anfield.

Going to try to be objective here and not just slag them off cos they're mags, so here's me thoughts.

The away end is awful. We were right at the back and the roof overhang means you can barely see the crossbar at the far end. You could be at Gillingham or PNE for all you can see of the rest of the ground. Not the greatest experience for the young'un who's always wanted to go to a night match at Anfield, and not helped by all the mags standing up the entire game (even when they were attacking the other end - if they'd all sat down everyone would have had a much better view). Loads of empty seats in the away end. We had a whole row to ourselves.

Canny bit of singing first half, some of it aimed at themselves ("you're nothing special, we get beat every week" or something along those lines). Petered out 2nd half and they seemed to spend more time talking amongst themselves. Not much anti-lads stuff, although Henderson got some abuse. Seemed to have more to say about Mike Dean than against us.

Some tiny scouse kid kept standing up, flicking them the Vs and giving them the middle finger. Mags found it funny at first but then seemed to get so upset I think a couple complained to a steward?!? Kid's dad looked on proud as punch.

Me and the young'un never moved a muscle when they scored - a couple of them turned round hoping we were going to embrace them or something daft but assume they decided we were Lithuanian or something and didn't understand football. We did nowt when Liverpool scored either, so never felt threatened (as mentioned there was no-one behind us to get suspicious anyway).

Biggest issue was the high proportion of pondlife there, mainly young lads who thought it was hard to bang seats with their feet or kick the wall at the back. Stewards had a word with a couple of them but they were basically braindeaths and pretended they didn't understand what the stewards were saying. Just nasty little scrotes, but then haven't been in a Sunderland away end recently and we might have the same subset of amoeba brains for all I know. We were next to the scousers so most of the bumfluff mags spent their time making wanker gestures to them and threatening to meet them outside (where no doubt they'd have run a mile).

Outside saw some old mag try and chase down a red who bumped into him and whispered "going down" - his wife was all "Eeeh man you're 67 - let it gan".

Heard another mag say "I LOVE Eddie Howe mind, but we keep getting beat still. I'll give him to March" - dunno why he thought he had any influence on sacking him, but there you go.

Anyway, son loved it and said it was great to see "them self-obsessed idiots" come away with nowt, so worth it for him.

Good read that.

Fair play, I couldn’t/wouldn’t have entertained going amongst that lot.

That must have been tough not celebrating.
Been in home ends before watching Swindon away.
Man City and Wolves and got rumbled, getting beat saved my life.
Wimbledon away no issue bit the natives got upset that at least 50 were in their end. No problem.
All about your Son and hoped he loved the experience.
Would be made welcome at Swindon, would make sure of that.

Cheers for that, @Swindon On Tour - and you're right, it was all about him...and sometimes we have to make big sacrifices for our kids :)

Or bloody cruelty mate 😂🥊
“You’re going and that’s the end of that.”

Still tickles me a few years back now when my eldest was playing and training Saturday Morning. Could still make a few of the away games with him, albeit taking his clothes where he could change in the car on the way.
A cracking parent whose lad played with mine and still keep in touch with now, a Blue Glaswegian.
Still see him laughing and almost a Billy Connolly moment (accent).
As they trudged off the pitch (Alan the Ger) telling my lad who clearly just wanted to go home.
“Ye going to Port Vale.”
“Ye going to Port Vale and that be tha end of that.”
Still brings us both in laughter even now :)
