Did I say they were old?

A poster said we have a young side, we dont, we might have a young supporting cast, but the core of our side is not ''young''

The 6 young players you have mentioned are not playing in this series, thus, what ''experience '' whether we win lose or draw is lost on me

If you want to argue about young up and coming players, I wouldnt argue but that wasnt the debate

Compared to the rest of world cricket sides bar possibly NZ, we are pretty much of a similar average age - not many teams oldest player will only be 34.

Need 75+ lead in this innings, so important for a couple of the remaining batters to get 30+. First hour will be very important ... the second new ball is always the most valuable thing in these tours.

Aye, gonna be a tense start to the day, if we can last till lunch/tea we could win this test. Big if like, the way Ajmal and Rehman finished the day, It would be hilarious if they got the new ball and the two spinner used it 1st, there seamers dont seem at the races.

....turning into a decent lead now.

Will prob miss most the rest of the play, hope to turn on later to find Pakistan all over the shop.

Broad = Botham (will do in time)

Decent lead this like although need to chalk a few off the lead as batting last will be a lot harder than when they bat again.

Anything around 80 run lead and we got half a chance although worried that Younis hasnt got a score yet and he is absolute class

Broad has batted excellently. These two should now concentrate on getting to lunch. After that everything else is a bonus! Here's to a lead of 75. Dare I dream of 100? :-o

I still don't understand why people don't have the confidence in Broad's batting that they do in Bresnan's. I really think he could bat at 7 if needed.

Bit of a bugger for him not to have a chance to tee off after lunch thanks to those bloody chuckers, but a lead is a lead.

I dont get Bresnan full stop.

County plodder who has come in the side at the right time, but isnt international class which will only get proven in time on some of the more 'difficult' tours such as this

Broad isnt quite a number 7 yet but isnt far off

Not sure about that with Bresnan tbh, I think he's a decent player who causes problems with the ball and can hold a bat.

Broad is in line for MoM if he continues the way he has so far.

Cracking first over from Jimmy there, need an early wicket here.

Need them 4 down before they get parity to stand any chance as cant see England getting more than 150 in their second digs

Depends really, there's still something in the pitch, but it's hard to see whether it's flattening out or roughing up. Either way, the fact we did so well against spin in the first innings and faced so little seam has to give us confidence when we bat again, even if it does start crumbling.

Will be turning square come 5th day, the Pakistan spinners were getting it to turn more as our innings progressed, just being realistic rather than pessemistic

Career defining bowling spell coming up for Monty and Jimmy needs to take wickets in this second innings. Unfair to expect Broad to do everything again in these conditions.
