Sabbath are the band that started it all, legends
Zeppelin, Purple and Priest also very influential, even The Kinks had some killer metal riffs.
All genres of metal owe a lot to these bands, especially the mighty Sabbath
Of couese 'metal music' will not die when Ozzy dies. He was the voice of Sabbath but did not contribute anything songwriting wise. The death of Hetfield/Ulrich/Harris/Dickinson will be bigger loses imo - hopefully they are all nowhere near dying! Christ this is getting morbid (angel).

Yeah but there was a charm to the Ozzy Sabbath that was lost when he left. Their catalogue was superb.Dio was a better singer for sabbath
Seriously? would members of a Metallica covers band be that much of a miss? Think Jeff Hanneman was a bigger loss to be fair and Metallica died the day Cliff wentOf couese 'metal music' will not die when Ozzy dies. What about Meatloaf? He was brilliantNo that was lemmy
NDOYT FFS.
@chriswallace85 has strong opinions on this subject. Personally, I would go with Sabbath being the band who made Heavy Metal a 'thing' but I can't see them ending being the end of HM as a genre. Whether you like it or not, it certainly has longevity.Sabbath are the band that started it all, legends

The Violent gadgie? Lemmy Atom?No that was lemmy
I don't want to compare voices. Dio had the best pipes in rock but they weren't really Sabbath anymore. A superb first album in Heaven and Hell but by a band with a completely different approach. Also ozzy had a huge solo career- did any other manage that? Only dio
He's not even the most important metal person in his own band ffs. Tony Iomi
No tin hat needed. Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules were absolutely brilliant and Dio had the greatest Rock voice of them all.Loved Sabbath live but tin hat on Dio took them up another level.
Geezer wrote the songs, well, lyrics I suppose. It was a unit rather than four individuals though. He's not even the most important metal person in his own band ffs. Tony Iomi
Sure Ozzy wrote Paranoid lyric.Geezer wrote the songs, well, lyrics I suppose. It was a unit rather than four individuals though.
Nee Z in OsbourneIs it fair to say he is the most important man of heavy metal and when he dies metal dies?
SMB this shite
Nope, Geezer.Sure Ozzy wrote Paranoid lyric.
