There are no cracks of doom like Perth but the ball is swinging and seaming a lot more than the first three tests. Should continue to favour the English bowlers. Forecast to be hot and dry tomorrow, overcast and breezey Sunday, surely to god we can win with the conditions in our favour? {We need to learn how to when they're not}

Well, well, well, we have finally turned up.
I watched us bat last night which was f***ing shite and then turned off. However, it's nice to see the Aussies finally shown up for what they are, namely not as good a team as they think they are.
I have maintained all series this is a fairly average Australian team. Hopefully in the next 3 days we can ram some of the gloats and taunts down their throats and move to Sydney looking to end 3-2 (and the combined two series 5-3).

Nnggh. Any previous series I'd be well content but 90 is a gettable lead on present form, going to have to bat better still to win I reckon. Probably need to bat for a day and a half.

Exactly. Roll them over and then put some pressure on them for a change. Make them bat 5 sessions to save the match whilst chasing 450

We need to knock Lyon over sharpish. Give him the chin music and skittle him. I hope he doesn't hang about with that annoying git Haddin knocking our lead down and down.

Clarke and Johnson are world class test players, the rest of their side are rank average or one dayers, to make them look as good as we have is a total embarrassment.
Where were our bowlers for australian, hard wickets? Why were our batsmen incapable of batting conservatively in face of stifling, leg theory tactics? Why have our batsmen been so susceptible to strategies employed against them on previous occasions? What have our batting coaches been doing for the last 12 months? Why did we pick three 'quicks' not one of which is good enough for a first team place? Why did we pick a spinner with a career threatening injury that had him bowling well below his capabilities? Why did we pick a player with stress related illness? Why did we embark on an ashes tour with question marks hanging over the coach's future?
3-2 risks papering over these cracks.

And I agree that 3-2 would paper over massive cracks.
However, I think change is coming anyway, Flower will leave and the team is evolving all the time (just look at it now compared even to September at the Oval). So with that in mind, I want to avoid a 5-0 or 4-1, especially since a 5-0 would be the score 2 out of the 3 last series in Australia (which would be f***ing embarrassing) and because I don't think a 3-2 would prevent the necessary changes to our set up/team taking place anyway.
We really should not be losing a series heavily to this Australia team - the 5-0 v Ponting, Warne, McGrath, Langer, Hayden, Gilchrist etc was shocking but kind of understandable given the calibre of their team. That doesn't apply this time.

those three been good against us but poor in previous series, so would stop short of calling them world class. Haddin lost his place to wade for a long time and Harris was well behind pattinson and starc in the pecking order - mid 30s and only played a dozen or so tests iirc. Siddle has been a fairly consistent will give you that.
I think Haddin,and Aussie team in genersl, are weak against spin but not been tested due to swann'S poor form
Harris just has dodgy knees, and didn't start bowling fast til very late. He is a super bowler
