In that case is Parkinson the best man to do that? Never averaged above 42% win rate and that was back in 2003-06 we need well above that to get promoted. His style of football is also as negative if not more so than Ross'The owners will be just thinking short term imo
Get us up then bail
A welcome change of direction for this thread. It isn't Parkinson
Parkinson has been promoted out of this league a few times before and was managing at this level as recently as a few months ago, so knows the players and what it takes (you’d hope). He had no money and a paper-thin squad at Bolton and did a good job with limited resources, got Colchester promoted to the Championship, and is a legend at Bradford for the way he turned there club around - good read today in the Chronicle from Mark Douglas about what he did with them that is worth a look.

I agree that there are some good options out there, but Parkinson certainly isn’t a bad one and I think some of the stuff being said is a bit unfair.
Ross wasn’t negative as such for me ,he just never had a clue what he was doing .
BSA was the anti-Christ of football and what he served us up was good to watch .Time will tell .
Really???They haven’t even decided on anyone yet. If it is Parkinson though then I can get behind it. Don’t see why people are feeling so negative about him if I’m honest.
I just can't get out of my head that Moyes IS the grim reaper.![]()

Well said.
I know what your saying ,he wasn’t tactically negative is what I should have said .It wasn’t in his tactics or gameplan .Agree to disagree mate, I thought he was negative as hell. Case in point being the play off final, gifted a goal and instead of trying to capitalise on it and on any nerves/ uncertainty at the back we looked happy to sit on it. Very, very rarely did we press forward unless we were chasing the game. Then there was the comments, we felt we weren't taking games to the opposition enough and all he's doing is sitting there banging on about clean sheets (which he never managed to get. Maybe he was just shite like, but I certainly don't remember him as an attacking manager!
Stendel would be my choice but knowing Sunderland he’d be unable to implement his preferred style of football and we’d spiral down the league as he stubbornly stuck to Plan A.
We’re at a critical time in our season so whoever gets the job, and whoever it is won’t get universal support, needs to be given our backing 100%
Like SD said we had the biggest budget in L1 he also hinted at a takeover and was seen showing the yanks around the SOL. Everything points one way then all of a sudden we 'misinterpreted' what was said and it's the fan's fault ?! These words and actions are misleading hopeful fans purely to keep them onside that things will happen, so stick with them
Hope your right mate.It isn't Parkinson
The first bit is fine, speculation about our new manager is what the board is for.
The second bit is exactly why this board is such a joke at times.
You've called it speculation - but then by the second sentence you've accepted its true and then used this *truth* to attack the club and its owners without a shred of verifiable evidence.
This is the stuff of playgrounds, not grown adults discussing their team.
For me my disappointment would centre on the negative hoof ball his teams tend to play. They haven’t even decided on anyone yet. If it is Parkinson though then I can get behind it. Don’t see why people are feeling so negative about him if I’m honest.
I just can't get out of my head that Moyes IS the grim reaper.
Based on what ?Terrible decisions, awful recruitment. Only thing they got right is the red seats. Cant believe Mr Hills decisions what is his vision? We needed strength, creativity and pace in the summer it was so obvious. Could of done with some much needed motivation with the new manager but looks like its going to be Parkinson.
