Our last league win at Anfield

Remember travelling down in a car with about 5 of us... stopped just outside Liverpool for a beer or two... first time I'd had "real" Guinness... the pub had two shelves behind the bar stacked with half-pints poured coz you could never get a full pint out in short order! Went on to the match and there were hordes of Sunlan' everywhere.... and got a good reception from all that we met.... even Everton lads that were hoping we'd win.....
Was standing behind the goal when Cummins cut in and absolutely lashed the ball into the back of the net....
Needless to say the place went mental!
Stayed the night in Liverpool and partied across a load of pubs... for some reason the locals weren't that happy! :) but they took it well and we had no hassle...
Great day on tour!......

I've seen some so they exist.

The Scousers took offence at us being there, for some reason, and dished out a few sly digs ...... when we 'found each other' no one came near us and the polis wanted us out.

They tried to force us outside but we refused so they took us to the bottom left corner of the Kop and took us onto the running track.

As we walked along the side, past their stand, a few came over but we just growled and they shit their pants. As we neared the away section a chant started up and grew louder & louder so we raised our arms and joined in ...... even the Scousers were grinning and applauding.

That kind of thing will never happen again.

I'll have a look a little later see if I can find out.....81? Year after I arrived on the plant....in a wonderful place called GOD'S COUNTRY ;)

Our support that day was absolutely incredible.

Even for people who were at the Old Trafford semi, the 3-0 at SJP or Norwich last season I'd find it difficult to explain.

It was like a force of nature that swept everything before it ....... we took Liverpool over and they stood back and let us.
I was glued to the carpet in me Gran's dining room, listening to the commentary, praying and wishing for us to win. As a kid, it is one of my most vivid recollections and I can actually recall those feelings whenever I think about being there. Stan was my hero even before that day and I almost couldn't comprehend the fact that we'd won and he scored. Wow!

Post of the year for me mate ..... says everything ;)

We've never won down there since my old man stopped doing away days. Sadly he won't be in attendace this weekend.

You couldn't at first work out what was happening there was a few coppers separating a large group in the bottom corner from the rest of the Kop until everyone clambered onto the pitch.

I've seen loads of posts, on here, along the lines of 'then this big Sunderland lad stood forward and asked who was first who wanted to have a go' ...... in this case, and probably the only time in that kind of situation, that was me

Was there , just remember we were hammered for 89 minutes, great result and our fans were just legendary !

Didn't Bob Paisley say if it had been a horse race there would've been a stewards inquiry..?
I am sure this was match we needed points to stay up, Liverpool either had league or had little

Was this the match we needed points to stay up and Liverpool either had won league or 2 nd? Coz I was behind goal when Ray Kennedy had an open goal and he screwed his shot .He looked at us ,winked and smiled...both him and Bob Paisley from Hetton if memory serves me well..same match took my young nephew from The Ra, he wasn't ower bright;) and when he went for pie or loss he came back a tad dishevelled and bruised minus scarf. He thought the howling mob behind the fence were Sunlund lads so he accepted their helpful hands in friendship as they tried to pull him over and give him a warmer Scouse welcome...you have to learn sometime...great day, massive support...Bob Paisley was correct, but he was the steward that day!

Today will probably be like that 0-0 at anfield a few years back - Wilko Parked the bus our goal was bombarded but macho played a blinder. I'd take a point now

No, Cummins was 81.
Last win was 1st October 83, the day I got hitched.
Lads took ages to forgive me for making them miss it !!
Rowell penalty.

Lord Rowell scored our goal in a 1-0 win in 1984
1.10.83 marra
