O'Nien

Luke epitomises the difference between us and the Mags
To come back from that error and play the way he did for the majority of the rest of the game is one of the reasons that we won

Our boys fight to the end and chase every lost cause

That's what got us back in the game and ultimately won it for us

If those gimps up the road had a quarter of our backbone and resolve they would be a far better side

I love the lad. We need to keep him provided his wage demands are reasonable.
His dedication, work ethic and morale is infectious and he has demonstrated that he can compete in the PL.
Obviously he's not likely to be first choice with a fully fit side, but he's the type of player who can come on as sub and inject some passion and fight when we need a boost.

He might not have the natural talent you'd expect from, say, Newcastle's outrageously overpriced players, but he's not a coward and a quitter like their lot.

For me, he can finish his career here as a squad player, then get his qualifications and work with the youngsters in some capacity.
He's got the ideal personality and work ethic to make training fun.
A player who's worked his way from L1, where even back then some on here were calling him shite, to the Premier League and putting in solid 'til the end' performances is a dream scenario and should be an inspiration to any young player.

Graft, never give up, wind up the opposition, be a team player, don't sulk, be the best you can and don't let the doubters drag you down. Believe in yourself. Find what you do best and do it better. That's our Luke.

Keep him, he's a rarity in today's game of spoilt, overpaid prima donnas. I love Luke.

I hope there’s a place for Luke in the coaching team

My only concern is that he might be too nice a bloke to go far in coaching. He would certainly be an arm around the shoulder rather than a kick up the arse type coach but the best coaches need to be able to do both. He's the perfect role model for any lower league player though showing what you can achieve with the right attitude even if you lack the greatest of natural talents.

I get everyone is on a buzz and everything is great with the world right now but it never ceases to amaze me that the Onien cultists will not accept he's a massive liability and not good enough for this level.

Once again he's at fault for a goal. He's barely played this season and he's managed to get sent off, is at clear fault for 2 goals, and nearly scored an insane own goal last week.

It's so clear to me now how people like trump get elected despite being incompetent, people are blinded by personality.
Fuck off man, he's class.
He's our fifth choice CB (behind Alderette, Ballard, Mukiele and Geertruida) and as good as any fifth choice CB for a newly promoted team would be.

Fundamentally you will never ever get me to dislike or turn on him, given how important he was in getting us here but he's our fifth choice CB for good reasons. I don't think anyone would play him over Ballard or Mukiele. We all get that but they're injured and that's nothing we can change.

Yesterday and the Leeds game are both games we won and he was a major part of that. Yes he made big mistakes in both of them, but we got away with it, which is why I find some of the way he's spoken about an overreaction.

How good a player do you think is willing be our 5th choice CB? Like do you think we can get John Stones to come and sit on our bench for a season until we have an injury crisis?

You're not going to find significantly better who is willing to play that role, so I don't see any reason to get rid.
Stones isn't fit to lace his boots man
It should of been played slightly to oniens right by the keeper so he could pass it done the line to the right back he give the ball really awkwardly so he had to run across the centre of the goal and he panicked
Cheers for the in-depth analysis Pep.

You have to pass the ball to him onto his right foot there so he can go down the line to guitruida not force him to have run into the middle of the box he hasn’t got time to
Shift it onto his other foot because of Gordon

I’m not saying he wasn’t nervous or he’s not young but he didn’t have a good game let’s not pretend he juts about missed every cross he came for he for
Lucky with a kick Gordon blocked early doors
That’s an awful view from someone who’s clearly never kicked a ball before
Surely that's the whole point of a squad player. Someone who can be brought in as backup and then dropped when the first/second choice is available. You aren't going to have a top quality player happy to play a handful of times a year.
Nah mate, Hume and guertruida are squad players. Onien is the desperation
Interesting that while we are all celebrating one of our greatest victories in years this is what you want to focus on 🤣 🤣 🤣 You're either a very poor excuse for a Sunderland fan or a troll.
Yes this is the only thing anyone has focused on because one comment defines everything. Weirdo.

Every word of this is bang on. Well said marra.

He dropped a right bollock didn’t he that kick started the kick up the arse that inspired our colossal win over the Tyneside Tramps.
Absolutely love the lad and his passion for our club! ❤️🧅👍

You can tell he was giving great words to Rigg and telling him to savour it and reminding him he's got a lot of years yet.

Alderete and the team were around him when whistle went, as they know what the lad is about
I think the great majority think like that, just a few tits really.Andy the ratings gadgie on Roker Report is one of them

Hopefully in 12 years time Rigg will be doing the same for a young player who is currently still in junior school
