When does the reduction in spending power apply? Is it during the Europe season or the one after? (Genuine question). The problem here is that the increase in income from the Conference League in particular in no way compensates for the reduction in spending power. Even the Europa League is marginal.
got to remember bar Xhaka none of these players have played a season in prem before, yes playerd in top European leagues, eg Reinaldo, Alderete etc but nothing like intensity of the prem, perhaps it's kicking in physically and mentally on a lot of the players.
agreed, they will learn a lot from this seasonAnd we have a very young squad.
I expect them to kick on next season and raise their game after a full season under their belt.
In the season. Clubs have to supply projected figures and are given a target based on them. The target is then amended on a quarterly based on actual figures as they emerge. This has apparently been happenung this season in parallel with the existing PSR filings. When does the reduction in spending power apply? Is it during the Europe season or the one after? Income (gate and tv money) and expenditure ( travel costs etc) would be very much draw dependent for Europa and Conference. Not all clubs will end up with the same bottom line.
1) The squad would be the same size.
2) I’m not sure the calculation is as straightforward as just giving a figure. If the income is greater via Europe then the % of income would probably be similar in total to the higher % of not being in Europe, as far as I can see.
Anyway, we’re not in Europe next year.
But would you advocate we don’t try for Europe next season? Settle for bottom half again? Because that’s the attitude that gets you absolutely nowhere.
These threads are madness, Villa away should of won after coming back from 3-1 down, good save from Diarra or a bad miss and Villa who are in the champs league places and Europa Semi finalists scored a late goal. Forest Europa League semi finalists, in form atm and fighting to stay in the premier league:- 1st goal lucky with the deflection off Hume, brain fart moment from Roefs for the 2nd which killed us, then a mad 10 minutes from us, 2nd half, a dodgy VAR call to take off our goal and poor officiating when we should of had a penalty too...basically one of those days where nothing goes right for you and now Wolves away, we were playing well, go 0-1 up, in crusie control and then a disgraceful decision from the ref and VAR to send off Ballard which turned the game but a great effort from the lads playing away 70 minutes with 10 men to get a draw and not lose. Also we are safe 100% which was the aim at the start of the season for us. All this Europe talk has people expecting too much from us in our first season back, still a possibility with 3 games to go but some fans need to calm down and stop the negative rubbish.
The squad is a maximum of 25 for both the Premier League and Europa League, our squad would not get bigger. Why would the squad be the same size if we have 10, or even 15 extra games should you get to the final.

It may increase in quality and depth tho, which would in turn improve our Prem chances.
It just depends on which way you look at it. Defeatist or Ambitious

How have you calculated that figure? But you’d have £30m less to assemble that squad. That’s £100k a week for six players.
How have you calculated that figure?
Guesstimates, but the only way to get bigger is to make more money, build the extension, sell more corporate hospitality, and play more games?Turnover £200m (best guess)
Spend of 85% allowed under PL rules = £170m
Spend of 70% allowed under UEFA rules = £140m
Subtract one from the other =£30m
Actually written down in black and white that £140m looks quite meagre considering its transfers, wages and agents fees. Average wage bill in the PL last season was £140m.

Agree?
Otherwise it’s a race to the bottom.
