You can spot the posters who just don’t want to praise anything a mile away. Already complaining about things Johnson might do. Ffs.

I am interested in seeing if Grigg keeps his place.
I have been very flat over Johnson's appointment but am happy to give him credit. Yes, its only Oldham but it was an important win. His substitutions were all sensible tonight. He needs to play Diamond from the start - would be a massive statement that the team/club changes with him in charge. If he doesn't he'll be open to a lot of criticism if we lose.

In the Pizza Cup
Presumably, that's two mostly first choice sides he's put out though?

I think I'm sick of watching us play tbh as I'll always give a manager a chance, I know it probably doesn't look like that here but I just hoped he'd change the composition of the midfield from the off, which he hasn't which is a bit frustrating.

Anyway LJ is off the mark, let's hope we can follow it up at the weekend.

Defenders will always look vulnerable, strikers won’t get any chances to score and wingers won’t get the right ball with which to create whilst we persist with such a slow and static midfield. That’s the crux of the problem. Get Gooch in there once fit as a no. 10, McGeady and diamond wide, 2 holding and get them to move the bloody ball faster and we might create some issues. Scowen, power and grant (and Dobson) are as mentally slow as could be, takes them 5-6 touches to play a pass and 5-6 passes to move the ball side to side. Desperate for some new CMs in January as a priority.

Solid performance, if not spectacular. Honestly think we would have struggled to win that under Parky. Least Power and couple others tried to run with the ball and turn. Little baby steps but a win is a win. 7/10 performance for me. Diamond starts next game, end of. Bit worried about Wright in a back 4. Gets turned far too easy and looks clumsy. We move on to Saturday, big game.
5/10 is more realistic. We were marginally more competent than a mid-table League 2 side and needed a good save to stop them equalising. I know Parky really lowered the bar, but, that can't be a 7/`0 performance.

Small steps.

Positives - Diamomd, Grigg looked interested and we actually looked like we might play some balls he could get on the end of. Patterson settled after a shaky start and made an excellent save to preserve the win.
We played far more on the front foot and it’s less painful to watch than Parky ball.

Negatives - Wright is struggling and looks a liability in a flat back four. Too many of our players seem to lack the fitness levels to complete 90 minutes.

One of who?

Dobson replaced leadbitter as the holding mid, Embleton isn't a holding mid.
Neil or Embleton.

I think Embleton could play as deep lying midfield player personally, not saying we should do it but imo having mobility, technique, good passing and being comfortable to collect the ball with your back to goal are the best attributes for deep midfielder when his team are expected to control possession.

As I say I will give LJ a chance I'm just a bit frustrated at the team selection is all.
