Notice the people on top of the stand roof[/quote]
the people next to the goal, bet a few of those got a nasty old leather ball in the face!

Why did they do that ,anyone know

I'm pretty sure that in years gone by a fair few grounds had that,to separate the crowd from directly behind the goal itself. Everton seemed to keep it like that for years after many had changed it.

Loakes Park - Wycombe - 'The most famous (and infamous) feature of the ground was the 11-foot slope of the pitch, downhill from the main seated stand.'

Cheers it certainly looks different these days
It's changed loads. Even up to the late 1980s it had a huge gap between the pitch and the behind the goal stands with cars packed in the gap and everything.

The big main stand they still have nearly bankrupted them IIRC when they built it IIRC.[DOUBLEPOST=1384636765][/DOUBLEPOST]
Isnt it Bayerns old stadium?
Is that where we beat Germany 5-1?

Had a look round here in 2008 before the Scottish cup final. It's what's left of the terracing of Third Lanark just a few hundred yards from Hampden Park. The local council were talking about flattening it. Now't like destroying a bit of history the wankers.

The view from that top corner at the Goldstone must have been pretty immense like, what with the rest of the ground being tiny - anybody down there for the 85/86 fixture ?? .

Which other teams had massive side terracing? Man City & Charlton sping to mind, Chelsea & Birmingham as well posisble !??!
I stood on that terrace in the 3rd division, it's not that big or impressive. We won IIRC, cracking weekend.

Edit, It was 2 years later, 1989. We won 2-1, cheers statcat!
