He 'sponsored' an F1 team as well. Have a look at how that turned out.
I’m aware of that. I’m saying he does sponsor stuff. Jason Plato is probably the biggest name in BTC and he sponsors his team. BSB team for at least the last 2 years. Not blowing his trumpet, but he is spending money from somewhere.

Let's hope they got paid upfront

Hasn’t been any backlash which surely would have by now.
In what way? I don't really follow F1 but from what I've read Haas didn't want any further embarrassment and so haven't followed-up. Whyte Bikes did (after he 'borrowed' their logo) and won - I've seen no evidence to suggest he has paid up there either.

To the BSB and BTC sponsorship.
Again I’m not sticking up for the weirdo, but (and I don’t follow F1) what the hell was Haas due diligence to sign multi million pound sponsors contract with someone like that? It’s all weird.

Agreed - but as that article points out there is a history in Motorsport (and especially F1) of accepting the money first and asking questions about where it comes from (or when it will be paid) second.

He also doesn't do himself any favours by making outlandish claims that he can't back up, going out of his way to be 'contraversial' (see COVID and Trump) and blocking anyone on Twitter who questions his narrative.

Based on the available evidence he's not right in the head.

Just checked and so far no tweet from Rich Energy congratulating SAFC despite #bullshitbilly being a MLF. I can only assume the takeover is off...or his phone has run out of data.

I'd be amazed if he'd pass the fit & proper persons/financial checks, especially after the F1 carry on a few years back...but saying that knowing the EFL checks they'll probably approve him. God help us he he does buy us though, there's something about him I just don't like. Was KLD there last night? Haven't seen or heard anything to suggest he was/wasn't.

A bigger problem for him is that his company was put into compulsory liquidation. That makes him an automatic fail. Once that is completed there's every chance he'll end up disqualified from any directorship, let alone a football club.

This is Storey's company. The progress report is illuminating.

Reassuring to know mate, thanks

"Sources close to the bid insist there is interest in the offer among the club's owners, however, the chairman Louis-Dreyfus is not one of them and remains committed to Sunderland, regardless of which league the team is playing in next season, according to a statement issued to Sportsmail by the Black Cats."

Hmmm....
Sources close to a pair of salmon trousers, more like ...

How do you access the progress report - can't see a link

Finally had a chance to look - by 'Illuminating' do you mean its odd that the assets of the company appear to be measured in the hundreds of pounds and yet the claims by creditors (who I assume Storey is one) run into the millions?

Also, can anyone explain how the company is in liquidation and yet RichEnergy as a trading name for Lightning Volt is still active (as has been pointed out sponsoring BTC and British Superbike teams)?

He no longer has control of the company, does he? I'm sure I read that he was kicked out a few years ago and was reportedly taking them to court about it.
