ODI World Cup

We should have been looking at 350+ really as it looked a very batter-friendly wicket to start with.

Against Netherlands I’d say 250 would be fine with our bowling line up, I’d be shocked if they scored over 200.
^ If only I bet on what I posted instead of daft stuff like Joe Root getting a century

I don't think we could ask for much more today. We won by a large enough margin to get into the Champions Trophy slots (this has become a bigger consideration of late) and generally batted and bowled well. Stokes' innings was fantastic.

Agreed.

We need new management and squad changes going forward regardless of today and Saturday. However, my only fear is a good performance today and one on Saturday ends up papering over the cracks and allows certain people to avoid those changes.

There seems to be broad agreement that the squad needs to be refreshed (see Ali’s comments after the Australia). Root also said early on that the national side needs to play more one day cricket. I haven’t heard any noises about Mott being disliked and/or being incompetent, but I really doubt the ECB’s on-going commitment to the one day game. We all know that the domestic one day trophy has become cricket’s equivalent to the Pizza Cup.

There's the small matter of a T20 WC next June. Moeen was awarded a 1yr CC but he's done nowt in this WC to suggest he should be on the plane for that. He'd be one of the first out the door for me and someone younger brought in (it also shows the stupidity of awarded CC's mid tournament).

I suspect that we'll be rather better prepared for the World t20, just because the players are so accustomed to the format. I agree about Ali. He's a great bloke and everything - and he's definitely improved as a bowler - but he'll never be consistent.
