ODI World Cup

Yet Kohli refused a ball that had already been bowled and it got called a dead ball, no problems, no complaining on our part.

Not in the spirit of the game like, hopefully Bangladesh finish bottom
Isn't the spirit of the game to respect the laws and the opposition? In football this kind of "game management" is hated.

I honestly believe that if we had chosen a totally inexperienced squad from the county setup, kids etc we couldn't have done any worse. Not one player from this squad have covered themselves with any glory. That takes some doing with nearly 10 games played.
You're right but damned if you do and damned if you dont. If we'd have taken an inexperienced squad people would have complained we'd left experienced players at home. However, the squad clearly lacks balance between youth and experience. We should have had one eye on now and one on the future. Instead we've taken a squad where hardly any will be available for the next world cup.

To be fair like we’ve taken Brook, Atkinson and Curran then not played the howers for most of the tournament while the usuals fail time and time again.

Holstock was probably being kosher that he was already over 2 minutes, but I’m fairly confident Matthews isn’t the first to go over two minutes in that game never mind the tournament. The issue really arose from the helmet incident. Without that Bangladesh wouldn’t have appealed and the umpires would’ve stood and done nothing. I feel the umpires know they/lawmakers would come under fire for almost prioritising getting the game going quickly over safety and have let it be known he was over time anyway.

If we hadn’t played the reserve squad against Ireland, and instead got the first team up to speed in 50 over cricket, would that have helped ?

Personally I think yes and it was arrogant (and pointless) to treat these warm ups with disrespect.

It was 6 weeks after The Ashes, so ample rest for ‘the stars’

100-1 after 20ovs. Solid if not spectacular.

I've been impressed with the Afghani batsmen. Their spinners get all the headlines, but all the batters have turned up this WC.

Thing is when you bat first and you get a score you never know what will happen. Just seen Netherlands in both their wins.

Why our field first approach this world cup after winning the toss, is as big of a failure as our attempts with the bat.
