ODI World Cup

100% the pitches to blame for the poor shows imo. For a match to be competitive, it has to be an even match between bat and ball. Any time it deviates too much one way, we get shit matches. Hence run fests on their own get a bit boring after a while.

I'm going to be contrary, I actually like this format. Everyone plays everyone and the winner is a proper world champion. The fact it lasts for over 6weeks is a bonus for me. Point is mute anyway, back to multi group format next time.

Class ton by Sharma there, shame I can't get away with his team, just feels dirty.

Class post.

He's on about the Stoinis dismissal which sounds like you saw.

Jesus if the saffers keep this up there NRR will go over 3. Aussies is going in the bin.
Aye it was a shocker like. I don't know what the 3rd umpire was looking at, everyone could see his hand off the bat, then he kept saying the left and right hands are touching, errm no they weren't mate, they were no where near.

Still, fuck 'em. deserve every bad decision that comes to them. Hope they lose every game.

Hats off to the Saffers, still can't see them winning maybe semi's, but what do I know? It would be nice for them to lose the 'chokers' tag though. I wouldn't begrudge them a win.

I wouldn’t bet against them now, they’re looking fearless and have the quality to back it up. QDK is amazing when in-form

If they are still smashing teams after the 4th or 5th round, I will start to change my mind and believe they are real deal. It's early days in the comp, as history suggests, the teams that eventually win it are the ones who peak just at the right time. We've had several teams lose their maximum amount of games they could lose group stage and still win the whole thing in the end, no lose attitude leading to increase in form. Pak '92, Aus '99 and us in '19 just off the top of my head.

I'm holding off crowning India champions already for the same reasons. They have form for starting like a house on fire and then their arses falling out towards the back end. (fingers crossed)

After 2 games, I would rather still have things to work on while generally playing well, than smashing everything and everyone. I still have England as favourites, much more to come from us. As it stands, I think the top 4 are going to be.

England
India
New Zealand
Pakistan

*I will add that Aussies could go on and win every game now. We've seen it before. Hopefully not though, it's been lovely watching these shithouses mope and cry like they have been doing today.

What happened with Steve Smith’s lbw? Seen a clip and just looked correct? What am I missing?
Don't quote me on it, I only had it on in the background at work.

I think in real time the original ball tracking replay stopped at the point of impact and it looked like it was going down leg. Smith was watching and he thought he was not out. Cue the ball tracking replay finishing properly and the ball smacking leg stump, and out. Much to everyone's amusement. Smith walked off sucking lemons.

DRS had a bit of a mare today. Hope it's not catching something from VAR.

I’ve just watched a better replay now, looks like it got where it pitched wrong also but could be me.

Definitely looked like it was missing, but then it looked like it was nipping back in real time.

No idea basically, but it definitely looks like it wasn’t accurate

Aye, thought that too but in the end it's Australia and Smith. Him and Lasagne standing there double teapotting was funny like

Anyone else and I'd be asking questions of DRS today. Shoddy at best. Seen as the dodgy calls were against the crims then I'll give them a pass.

He’s one of the most frustrating players to watch. Irritates the life out of me. Similar to Livingstone
Was about to post the same thing in reply before seeing this.
David Miller used to be in the same bracket, but hes actually been pretty good the last couple years

They certainly looked at odds. The thing is, the ball tracking process is significantly more accurate than the single front on camera in the strict technical instrumentation accuracy sense. From which it follows that if the two appear to disagree it will almost certainly be the ball tracking that is correct. But this goes psychologically against the grain. We see one. We don’t see the other (except as the reconstruction). So we assume the one we see is right.

Might be a lesson to be learnt as football moves to the automatic offside, because that also uses multi-device multi-angle triangulation but might also be disbelieved because we trust a single device freeze frame more because you can see it.

They looked cooked the Aussies so we have to better one of the 4 so far unbeaten teams I reckon with need 6 wins.

Can see us wining Sunday, also Sri Lanka & Netherlands. After Sunday 2 key games v South Africa who have looked good so far and India.

Before our final 3 still a worry the form of some Woakes & Curran with the ball and Livingstone & Brook with the bat Stokes still looked miles off the other day fitness wise.
