Yeah tbf can see your first point fair enough.

However for your second of course it matters how we do in a World Cup at least it does to me!

Yeah it does, to me anyway. I'd like us to have a lasting legacy in the white ball game. Granted we are double world champions and some people might be fatigued but I'd like us to try and match the Aussie's haul at least. How many have they got? Double figures? I know we'll probably never catch up, but you have to give it a go.

I want England to win the lot, I think everyone on here will agree but I'm not convinced the powers to be are that arsed. When you look at the last World Cup it was superb, we won it and the final was on council TV, since then we have totally decimated the One Day Cup in this country in the fact it's now a reserve competition, scheduling is crammed in and even the final isn't at Lords, it's doesn't scream "we care" does it? Fingers crossed the lads can restart and do well but I'm not convinced the powers to be see this as a priority.
 
Poor preparation going into this world cup hasn't helped and it's only one gmw but concerned with us picking Malan to open we have gone away from the big thing which England have been very good at and that's getting off to fast starts. 5 an over at the start wasn't good enough yesterday and New Zealand showed how it should have gone.

I think the recent ODI final told its own story, consigned as it was to a rainy day in September at Trent Bridge. The counties all talk of the competition as a means of giving experience to young players, a sort of cricket Pizza Cup.
 
No score on screen in the Netherlands v Pakistan game and it seems that the only scoreboard in the ground is an old fashioned manual one. How did this qualify as a World Cup ground?

Shocking but I suppose not surprising India have refused any visas for Pakistan fans and journalists. Countries doing that shouldn't host international tournaments.
 
Shades of yesterday, bar our run rate. The pitch isn't as good for batting but that's no excuse, Pakistan's top order have been all at sea. Down to Riz and the new kid Saud to build a good partnership at good lick.

On a side note, I could never understand why the Pakistani batters aren't more proficient against spin, considering the wickets they play on/bowlers they must face in the nets etc. Most of the newer batters always struggle against the spinning ball.

Not just Pakistani fans, British born ones too. I know of at least one who has been refused, not a reason given either.

I would think twice about giving these another world cup anytime soon, just for the lack of fans at the grounds. Feels flat, not like a world cup at all.
Pakistani fans I know have high hopes for this Saud Shakeel. 50 off 32 balls, not bad for his 1st WC game. Feel like he needs at least a ton though.
