Even at such a massive ground there can’t be more than 12000 there. Contrast that to 4 years ago when every match was sold out.
Difficult to say I guess. But Bristol for example only holds about 15k

It's as if the Indian fans care more about the IPL than they do about the world cup. Shame, they've turned so insular. I bet the Indian games are sold out though.

Agreed, 15k people is 15k people, whether at Taunton or Ahmedabad. It just makes it look like a game in the UAE.

Yeah they will be, absolutely. In a country such as India with so much poverty, you’d have thought they’d have given tickets away rather than have 80% empty stadia.

They were only £7 anyway. Even for free the Indians wouldn't have turned out.
Kind of agree. But we saw in euro 96 (I know it was a long time ago) that grounds don’t fill for neutral stuff.

That’s true. It’s really hard to judge the attendance when a huge ground is mostly empty and there’s a few more in the shaded parts of the upper tier when you cut away.
Average attendance in 2019 was about 15.5k. 15.5k in suitably sized full grounds will look better and be better if you’re there than 15.5k in cavernous empty stadia, but in other ways it’s the same.
