Similar to the "would you walk" thread but from a fielding perspective.

Would you appeal the following, and how far would it need to go for you to appeal?

For example:

Or

You must be logged on to see media items

I'd appeal the top one, because otherwise there's a decent run-out chance on. Unsure on Pathans as can't be sure he meant to boot the ball away.

And what about timed out? Say you're defending a medium sized total (170-ish) and the batting side make a steady start and their big hitter is due to come in at 5. They suddenly go from 100/0 to 110/3 (for example) and their number 5 has been taking his time getting his pads on/going for a piss/keeping score etc. Worth a quiet word in the umpires ear to let him know? I would, but then I'm a cúnt.

I would appeal for both and expect them to be given out. There is intent on both, one to stop the ball reaching the stumps and the other to prevent the bowler picking up the ball.
Both batsmen knew what they were doing so "on your way".
Maybe ? should not come into it but these are examples of "professional" cricket. People's livelihoods depend on results and performances.
Local league cricket, should ? be played in a slightly different spirit, competitive but with some discretion. Most league cricketers play for fun and enjoyment.

In competitive cricket, at any level, I'd appeal both as there is blatant intent from the batsmen to gain an unfair advantage. Friendlies, it would depend on the context of the game, if it was a knockabout midweek game nearing its end with the batting side having no chance of winnings and a number 11 does it for a laugh, possibly not. Having said that, it's still completely against the spirit of the game at best and cheating at worst.

I'd appeal both, first one Inzi might get away with protecting himself but I don't know what Pathan was thinking, he's just side footed it down the wicket. It was almost as if he did and thought "shit, shouldn't have done that, should I even carry on running?".

As an aside, how is Pathan still getting IPL contracts, he scored 1 century about 5 years ago and has done nothing since.
