Oatcake not happy again (at us again)

I thought the first half we played ok. Sat back second half and hoped for a counter attack goal but we have not got the players for that. The league is too tight to sit back, any team can beat the next maybe apart from Sheff Utd who look very good. We do not seem to go for it or maybe have the players to do that. The defence is horrendous and do not pick the players in midfield to support them. All in all a f***ing mess. As for Sunderland looked good going forward through Roberts, don’t think will make top 2 but think could make playoffs.
serious question, would Sunderland sell out completely in premier league if go up or have they lost a few young fans to the Saudi team? Not taking the piss there but I have wondered this.

Sunderland rarely soldout in the Premier league except when playing the mags. Even against Chelsea Man Utd and the big teams it often didn't sellout. Football has changed now too, its very expensive to go to games these days. The stadium is too big. Would still average over 40,000 in the prem though.

To answer your last question, there are more fans now than there used to be from Sunderland areas that now follow the mags. That's what happens when a team becomes moderately successful and consistently wins games of football.

Very good that you’ve dissociated Newcastle from ‘the big teams’ mind.

Premier league padding

We hardly ever sold out in our previous stint in the PL, we definitely would nowadays.

I thought you were decent, better than I expected. Without creating loads of chances you had a fair amount of control of the game at times where we were chasing it a bit.

We averaged less than we do now last time we won the Championship. So I doubt it. And if we have so f***ing what.

Didn’t think they were bad by any stretch.

Sat off a lot, which is why they might be disappointed, everyone in this league knows to get at us because we’re very good in a shape and at keeping possession in said shape.

Was very impressed by ‘Junho’ was it? Him and Cannon caused us a bit; we retreated at times

We average 40k in the championship

Miserable lot we have to see them two more times in the next 4 weeks hope we don’t draw that would 4 times total

Do we have a weird rivalry with Stoke? Haven’t noticed one and I’d imagine their fans haven’t for the most part either.
We don't now, we did in PL years mate. Did you miss it? We kept selling them players, we'd be shit and lose and kick off, their fans would respond. This place had proper battles with their forum

I remember the game we beat them in the snow, or recently the 5-1 Alex Neil game being particularly special highlights personality

I hate this ‘stadium too big ‘ rubbish. Why does it need to be sold out every week, that just creates a situation where some fans particularly those that arent as well off can’t get to a game. The size of our stadium is just fine and allows for the next generation of fan to experience a live game, utterly ridiculous to want a stadium without the ability to welcome these people.

We'll lose even more fans to the Mags when they build their new 120,000 seater stadium. Well, they'll be on their additional 50k waiting list like.

I hope that you had a safe journey home.

Consider that in the 1990s and early 2000s the skunks 🦨 had several very good players, played in the chumps league, often were labelled as the ‘entataynaz’ etc. without actually winning anything.

Yet we still churn out new SAFC fans and average 40k in the 2nd tier.

We’ve seen it before. Anyone with class, humour, morality, handsome appearance etc. will usually raise their offspring to support SAFC. ;)

To be fair most seasons i the prem (except for a couple under reid)we were getting battered for many games and that's draining on the support so if we were an established top ten team i could see us easily having an average of 45 thousand plus and given the segregation issues of the away fans in the upper north stand i doubt even if we were successful we could get more than 46-47 in the ground.I dont get the irrational fear of empty seats that safc fans have if i'm being honest build a stadium that can come with the ebb and flow of demand and just watch the game !

I always go on the basis of an extra 10,000 if in premier league, well that’s for us anyway. The amount of kids etc that want to see Premier league football these days is far greater than in the 90’s when I grew up, I just wanted to watch Stoke no matter what division ( I need sympathy) but kids today are different. I blame sky TV. lol.

Sky tv and internet. It's knocking the traditional 'support your local team' culture. it's pretty hard to get kids into it now when your local team is a bit shit. Come watch sunderland in the rain and wind...or stay home watching sky or playing Fifa online.
