Safe as houses now I reckon. Always said Bruce knew what he was doing.

What about the other 20 players in the squad?
Good question. Just looking at the most used XI.

Rob Elliot
Yedlin
Lascelles
Lejeune
Manquillo
Matt Ritchie
Diame
Shelvey
Atsu

I'd reckon Elliot, Atsu, are definitely Championship players in terms of ability. Yedlin had as much experience in the Prem as he did the Championship. Ritchie was largely a Championship player during his career. Diame and Shelvey comfortably proven in the top flight Lascellles I think at that point hadn't become established (But I always knew was good enough). So probably a decent mix. There wasn't anyone in that group I'd say teams were envious of.

I'd probably class every one of those (Elliott?) As a Premier league player, along with Dwight Gayle (not Premier but top Championship player)

I mean, ok, let's play it that way.

If you had his career, then took that job, delivered what was asked, wouldn't you expect a raise? We know he wasn't asking for £12m. The problem Ashley has is that he made all of these statments in public about giving Rafa every penny the club makes. That's before we go into the talk of us botching a deal for Tammy Abraham only to end up with Joselu etc.

I know the exact figure he was asking for.

Yeah true. Not wanted from day 1 and every poor performance is then justification for the abuse. It reached fever pitch earlier this season before the current rot set in. In a world of us apparently more concerned with mental health, it seems those rules don't apply to managers. In truth most people think he's a shit manager who should be nowhere near the top level, but he never had a chance.
Some of the abuse that players and managers are getting on social media is shocking and more should be done about it. Dunno what, though. If the elite clubs go silent on twitter, instagram and facebook that might raise awareness, but honestly, I don't know how you fix what is a societal issue.
Is that vastly different from any other club?

Do other chairmen address fans regularly? I can't think of many. Do other clubs have regular lines of communication other than from the manager?
Donald and Methven spoke to the press often, didn't they? Brighton's Technical Director is open with the press, plenty of examples of clubs answering questions. Mind you, not many clubs are the cavalcade of nonsense that Newcastle are, so there'll be fewer batshit topics that they need to cover.

Donald and Methvan.😂😂

Dave from Morpeth on being able to open his barbers today.

"I've not been able to sleep, it's like waking up and finding out that Newcastle have got rid of Mike Ashley"

Newcastle fans, embarrasing themselves since 1992.
Properly laughed at that mate - brightened my Monday morning up 😃 They never disappoint do they?
