NUFC thread 2021.

Did you miss 'or whatever' part out deliberately or just struggled to comprehend it? If season ticket holders did that's 150k a year. It's currently being endorsed by Shearer, Lee, Barton etc so you can assume it's going to potentially reach more of the 1.6m twitter followers the NUFC account has (even if only 5% of its followers that's another 80k people).

Look, chances are it's probably going to fail - for a host of reasons. As people have already said, 1% isn't going to give you any voice worth having in any boardroom. Chances are Donald has fuck all say in you guys these days and he has what 5%? For me, you see too many clubs these days having fans scrambling at the last minute for any amount of money to save their clubs. Planning for the worst case scenario for all clubs seems like a sensible thing to do.

As it's already announced anyway, if it fails it's all going to charities in the NE. Don't get the fuss about it tbh.

Forgive me if thats just a load of nonsense that doesn't make sense, feel like shit.

Neither, I just couldn't give a fuck

At the prices being discussed I don't see this having impact. If we were in your shoes it would be a much more impactful initative.

I will say, the fact it goes to charity in the event of it not generating enough is a lovely touch.
A yet to be determined charity at a yet to be determined time (possibly) in the future (maybe) and run by a trust whose last treasurer is in jail for defrauding charities which the trust neglected to inform their members.

Yeah, totally above board, where do I sign?

Only £2,292,00 to go now. Overwhelmed by the take up 10 hours after launch
It was 8 hours at 6pm so they're generating £1,000 an hour since launch at the moment. The rate may go up once more people know about it but at the moment it's dropping consistently. It was just under £1,500 an hour at 2pm after 4 hours as they had about £6,000 and they got £2,000 in next 4 hours so £500 an hour.

Some of the tweets are talking about 3.5m fans putting in £10 or 100,000 fans putting in £3,000 ( ). Regardless of what they raise, if they don't get anywhere near being involved with the club then the money goes to local charities. We can take the piss about certain things like that kiddified youtube video but can't knock the money being raised 😎

Though some have asked about the charity thing because they already donate to charities or maybe don't but want to pay towards getting into the club. I suppose given NUST say they will donate if they don't raise enough then you'd have to consider the money is a donation for local charities (have they said which ones?) in the hope of it being used towards the club instead.

Excellent contribution.

Genuinely asking and not arguing but can you provide proof of this please? I saw they had a host of guardians including MPs and knowing trusts are governed quite closely didn't think this sort of shit was possible.

Cathedral on the hill gets a mention.

Yes I agree 100%. At least something good might come out of their latest joke action

Wait, so three years of planning and they've not discussed it with the current owner nor have they discussed it with any prospective owner, but they intend to buy these shares from these people regardless. What if they say no?

Wonder where they‘re going to find their 3.5m fans or even 100,000 prepared to hand over £10,000, and they wonder why they get called deluded.

It will be tough in a recession I am sure.

Supporters trusts can work. But not at Premiership level. The amounts involved are just too high to be sustainable with donations.

They want to raise £3million. Joelinton alone cost well over 12 times that. They go on about buying the club if they drop down the leagues. If that happens, their money would only pay off debts.

Then it will all go to charity 🤷

I must admit, I'm baffled how it took 3 years to set up though.

Fanbases are going to fanbase.

I'm pretty sure they've said they had discussions with Staveley et al. I could be wrong, but I believe they anticipate her facilitating a takeover as the most likely outcome - hence why I've not donated.

The trust in the past have had discussions with Staveley but her fella hasn't tweeted anything about this and that's unusual as normally he can't wait to have a say.

The aim is simple Bob: anyone with a bob chips in until the world understands that Geordies care about Newcastle United and require it back. I want Geordies to be treated with the respect given to any other large region. Sir John dreamed of Catalonia- that may be beyond our reach but no harm in dreaming is there? What about our old foes Bilbao? Is Tyne and Wear, Durham and Northumberland (stretching to the Lakes and Southern Scotland) not an equivalent of Basque Country? I'm waxing lyrical but quite rightly. You know what it's like "up here" as Bruce would incorrectly say "

Think they’d raise more if they called it 1992 pledge instead of 1892
I thought it was 1/8/92 which is 1st August 1992 like I said earlier ;)

I think this is what's happening

If the fund doesn't grow by 10% in a year then the guardians will vote whether to end the fund and donate the money to charity or they may end it to try and buy something in the club if the opportunity arises. The guardians decision then needs to be agreed by the trust members by a vote.
