Using excuses like “you watch Disney” and claiming faux outrage to deflect from the fact you were all celebrating outside your ground in Towels with Saudi flags…GLORIFYING…

I repeat that, GLORIFYING, a regime that murders children, beheads those who speak against them, sponsors terrorism…need I go on?

glorifying. There’s your difference. There’s what makes you complicit. You disgust me.

911 was perpetrated by terrorists mate- not the Saudi sovereign wealth fund

Most Newcastle fans will be less than happy that it's the house of Saud buying us out- but there's nowt that can be done about it so well get on with supporting our team .

Did Sunderland fans kick up a stink when a confirmed facist who celebrated the funeral of a rw killer ( a terrorist involved in an atrocity in Bologna that killed 80 people ) ... was made their manager in 2013 ?

....One or two did maybe

But the vast majority thought fuck it - let's get right behind him ....

Less of the abuse eh marra. Just makes you sound bitter and desperate. Human rights in Saudi Arabia has never been a big talking point in Sunderland and that's a fact. If they didn't have a pot to piss in nobody would be arsed. We've just got to suck it up on this one. I'm more than happy with our owner, and the direction that we are finally going in after a farcical few years. That's what's important to me. Despite all the euphoria up there, there's still a decent chance we could play them next season. They aren't just suddenly going to start winning games.
Whees this mag like? Have an ignore.

No it's not a pathetic comparison.
This is about supposed morals and if people want to argue about it they must ensure they don't invest their time and money into the very same stuff and ultimately the people who are behind it.

Don't be so stupid. The two things are incomparable and the argument is used by the masses on twitter due to defend the takeover. No idea why they (or you) need to defend it if it is all fine.

To educate you PIF only has to submit a 13F form to the SEC each quarter - unless you a regular visitor to sec.gov you would have no idea (or use Bloomberg) you would have no idea who they own, and even then it is backward looking.

I am blocking you now, not that you will be bothered, because you are an idiot who is incapable of thinking rationally and life is too short to expend energy on idiots like you.

Really? Outed? With proof? Many times? You'll be able to 'out' me again in that case? Be dead easy 🙂... I'll not hold my breath.
If you have nothing original to say then maybe give your fingers a rest? Just a thought.

There's already a thread covering this. Don't see why you needed to start another one, whether you are a mag or not.

I'm not defending anyone. I'm calling out people who take the moral high ground but then support the very same regime through other means.
In for a penny or in for a pound, it all amounts to the same.

The whataboutery that has come with the sale has been wearying, too. It’s as pathetic as it is predictable. ‘What about the fact that the British government sells arms to the Saudis?’ That’s a particularly funny one because selling arms to the Saudis so they can bomb Yemen into the ground is a shameful part of British foreign policy and always has been. Selling arms to the Saudis is wrong. Selling Newcastle to the Saudis is wrong.

‘What about the fact we write messages on Twitter and order rides home on Uber and the Saudis have investments in them, too?’ That’s also funny. Insulting people on Twitter and climbing into the back seat of an Uber doesn’t do anything to cleanse the image of a repressive regime. Allowing them to buy one of our best-loved football clubs and use it as a vehicle for the most egregious example of sports- washing we have seen so far does exactly that.

From Holt of the daily mail.

When we're going to the daily mail for some moral compass, you know that your fans groups who welcomed this tyrant have fucked up. You lot are a disgrace.

I'm not saying it's fine.
The argument still stands though.
If you buy into anything from this investment set up you cannot take the moral high ground. Simple as that.

But you do now and likely did the second they were touted s taking over the club years ago.

Fell free.

I hope those whose morals are so high do not use the investments of these people.
If Newcastle fans are expected to give up their club on moral grounds then all those with morals over this should cease to use anything that has been invested in by this group.
Does everyone do this?

If not it is massively hypocritical and is a clear indication of the subjectiveness I mentioned.
Sorry to bring this up but fair's fair.

The funny thing is, if it was any other club in the country they'd be saying the same things. They know it. It's just a siege mentality they've got which leads them to tie themselves in knots to defend themselves having an owner who kills people he doesn't like with bonesaws. Throw in the prospect of a good few million to spend and it's like the Alamo.

Even if there has never been a word posted about the Saudi murderers before it doesn't mean people shouldn't talk about it now.

You just want people to accept your view and shut up, it won't happen.

People are discussing it now, on a NE football forum, because they're now involved in NE football.

That's such a simple point you seem incapable of understanding.

There's something about this takeover that just doesn't seem clear cut. The rumours of hitches in the process are growing and the new owners are being strangely quiet. As we're in an international break Bruce was expected to have been removed and a caretaker, most likely Jones, announced as a temporary caretaker only.

As a world class attention seeker Staveley is remarkably quiet.
I was thinking just the same. If it goes tits up, can you imagine the fallout from the unwashed - oh how we'll laugh.

I'm not sure if he is TBH, his bizarre crack about Saudi Arabia not being discussed on match days over the last few decades is fairly random mind!

I'm most certainly not!!! My point was that up until they became involved with them up the road I'd never heard a fellow Sunderland fan complain about their human rights issues. None of us gave a toss so I'm not going to pretend to get all worked up about it now. If they'd bought us I wouldn't be bothered about it either and that's the truth. I'm just a football fan and I just want to go along and enjoy the match. No doubt they are the same. We're also at the beginning of a new era under a new owner and we're going along nicely. I'd rather concentrate on that.

It was reported that PL clubs were protesting and since then they, the PL and Ashley have gone very quiet.

The national media have barely mentioned it in the last few days at a time when they have no football matches to fill their pages.

Something doesn't fit.
