This has been discussed on the West Brom forum I go on, the general consensus being it seems deeply suspicious, when with the money they have, they could buy a more "banker for sucess" than The Mags.
Fans of other teams might protest against it though, these fuckwits have been fully sportswashed already as will be seen next Sunday when 49k of them turn up in robes and teatowels with Bin Salman masks on.

Their city councillors and MPs are all on board with this. If some of them aren’t then they’re keeping quiet about it. Silence is consent in my eyes. It’s not just the club they’ve given away, it’s the whole city. Now they have their Jordy nayshun. Newcastle should be viewed as a separate entity to the rest of the north east from now on. Ostracised by the rest of the region. I for one don’t want to be viewed in the same light as those filthy vermin. I still have my soul, my working class roots, the principles my ancestors ingrained in me. I have my heritage and I’m proud of where I come from. They have none of those things. They’ve given them away to murderers and despots. And I hope they are going to send a big thank you to Boris Johnson and the Conservative party. Not to mention the corrupt PL.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Got to laugh at a lot of the comments on here.

If someone asked me the colour of the Saudi flag I'd have struggled. Didn't know there was writing on it and wouldn't have had a clue what it meant.

Now the hotbed of vexillology that is the SMB are piling in to criticise daft charvas, who would struggle to find Saudia Arabia on a map, for having a can and holding a flag to celebrate the end of the Ashley reign.

If you have a problem with this takeover then aim at those who were responsible. Ashley, Stavely, Reubens, HM Gov, the premier League. Please don't try to claim that your own charvas wouldn't be doing the same.

This place has a history for trying to claim you are somehow different. You're not. It's not that long ago that a significant number of people on here were supporting Johnson while he was awaiting trial for noncing.
You do realise it's innocent till proven guilty you pleb

I know, its pretty pathetic how gay people in a secular people whose very identity is persecuted by the owners regime, manage to engage in such mental gymnastics that their first line is to "welcome" people who jail and torture gay men because its "an abomination in their religion".

The thing is I don't actually believe that the fans have any control here.

But I absolutely fail to see why they should engage in arguments minimising their owners atrocities or "welcome" them and their beliefs when their very organisation would be outlawed and their members imprisoned in SA.

Like you - I find that bit bizarre.
I still maintain that there’s plenty the fans can do. This investment from the Saudis is all about sports washing. If they wanted they could easily disrupt this with protests and generally letting their dissatisfaction be known. At the very least they could not be complicit with MBS’s aims, and stop perpetuating Saudi propaganda across social media and generally being seen to be welcoming their new overlords with open arms.

You can chirp on about morals only coming into it when it suits as much as you want.

The facts are that your de facto owner intentionally starves kids, tortures his own people, has journalists dismembered, and that isn't even getting into the role they play in international terrorism. Thats nothing to do with our opinions, its just facts.

You can spend as much time as you want telling us we have faux morals or whatever. But I sit easy knowing that my club is not owned by one of the most barbaric regimes on earth.

The bulk of your support has been beyond desperate for this to happen. But whether you like it or not what your club now stands for has changed. Probably for good. And I suspect in the fullness of time quite a few of you will regret you were ever taken over by these scumbags.
Of course you sit easy knowing your club is not owned by them.
It's exactly what I've been saying.
It's about taking the moral high ground when the situation suits.
Newcastle United fans cannot help who buys our club. If they could they would've had Ashley gone well before now.
So just because they support their club does not mean they agree with the external attitudes of the owners.

I suppose you're trying to tell me your Sunderland fan days would be over if you were taken over by owners who were nasty and inhumane, right?
Until they left the club. But then would you reintegrate yourself?

What about those fans that still went. Maybe some you are great friends with who merely want to support the club? You would disown them? Even family?
If the answer is yes to all then do you think that would be shared among the thousands of sunderland supporters?

Seriously?

Do you seriously think Newcastle fans, on the whole, condone atrocities?
They are fans of the club.

If this was Sunderland the ground would be swarming with fans jumping for joy and I would be jealous and envious.
Like I said: Morals are for cherry pickers when it comes to stuff like this.
There’s that “j” word again.
Look, I’ll give you a public admission: if you’d been taken over by the likes of Branson, Bezos, Musk or even Murdoch I’d have taken a massive gulp from the cup of envy, put my hands up and said fair play, you’re now in the stratosphere while we remain on the launchpad.
But you haven’t been taken over by these types of people have you? Ergo no jealousy felt here- just plain old disgust.

Johnson was torn to shreds the second he admit his guilt. We certainly didn’t do anything and everything to excuse it as they are over this.
Saying they can’t do anything about who owns them is complete bollocks too. They could harp on like they have about the takeover, Ashley, Rafa or anything else they’ve banged on about for years. They chose to dance around with tea towels on their heads instead
