Aye a lot of sad knackers in this thread but still wouldn't hate them.
Yip, i agree
I've worked alongside Newcastle and Sunderland fans all my life.
Some of the nicest people I know are Newcastle fans and I believe, honestly believe the blokes I'm on about would say the same about the Sunderland fans they have worked alongside

I think I am a bit naive when it comes to the hatred if I'm honest.
I just can not hate people who live a few miles up the road from me and who i know so many of them.

I said I laugh at Mags who come on here twisting about Ashley, etc.

There's no hatred, I have lovely relatives who've supported Newcastle for generations.

Your hero, the Fish, has said some disgraceful things to Sunderland posters over the years, why aren't you having a pop at him.

I once worked with a Newcastle fan who was the kindest person I have ever known.
He was a fanatic when it came to football..a bit mental but he had a heart of gold.
I've never seen him for years, I hope he's still alive and ok.

I don't think anyone on here thinks Ashley has invested. In recent years he has spent money that the club has generated but he will not inject fresh cash in, in the form of new equity or borrow against TV rights like many teams and put the club's future in jeopardy. As long as I can remember Newcastle fans have wanted them to be more than they are. Hall and Shepherd delivered on this and took a massive financial gamble and if they had won the league and gone on and dominated they would have been rewarded. But it didn't and they nearly took the club under, before Ashley came in. Now they see another opportunity to be more than they are with this PiF possibility. Although now the stakes are really high and through inflation a Les Ferdinand for 8.5m is the equivalent of 100m in today's money. In one year Shepherd and Hall spent £20m, which is the equivalent of £250m in today's terms. That is the level of spending needed, p.a., plus on infrastructure, to return to those "almost glory" days. No wonder Ashley is getting out. And no-one, not even PiF will satiate the demands of the post '92 brigade brought up on £20m+ each year.

As long as they get a team that tries they’ll be happy, that’s all they want apparently.

We all know that is BS. They want to be in the mix for the current Shearers, Ferdinands, Asprillas etc. Resident mags - how long have you now been singing "sack the board"?

They come out with this bollocks all the time.
What they really mean is a team that tries to win the league.
Oh and win cups and champions leagues and sign superstars.
Exactly this. Ive seen some comments on here they would be happy with imvestment in the academy. When they thought the takeover was going through i cant rember any mags posting about this . It was all were going to sign mbappe and ronaldo. Articles about potential line ups once take over goes through. Then once it was dying on its arse thats when the investment into the club and the region shite got spouted
