Not really. Because while Leeds tumbled down the leagues, they have been on the up, and because their owners are ambitious, they're attractive. They've a top manager, who's reconstructed their squad and they've recruited well. Their facilities have been kept in better state than ours.
There is no way you lot would have the patience to go through what Leeds did to get there now

So let's get this correct. You'd be happy for Newcastle to tumble down the leagues and spend the next 20 years out of the top flight, then come back and get a nice mid table finish in the top flight, say 10th?

With nice owners and a top manager. Which In turn takes about 17 years of said 20 years in the wilderness.

Anyone but Ashley iirc.

Never seen the fanbase so apathetic, yet they're still turning up. You're still drawing big numbers and you've been worse run than us.

No, you do not have that correct.

Getting 10th, with nice owners and a top manager is not predicated on 17-20 years in the wilderness.

Hell, we got 10th with a top manager and a crappy owner. There was much more to be hopeful for then.

It's is when you use your Leeds example.

Ok, what about Aston Villa? They're ambitious, they've recently just spent £20m upgrading their training ground and are exploring further investment in their already respected academy.
😀. So Leeds doesn't fit your agruement so goal post changed.

Fuck it, why not go for the Liverpool model or Chelsea.

Conversely a potential bidder will not be as interested in a Premier League club which requires overhauls of the squad, the academy, the training ground, the stadium, etc. Especially when the price is as high as it is.

Just like if you were buying a house, you'd be more keen to buy one that didn't need a fuck ton of work. Unless you were getting it on the cheap.
If you didn't treat him like shite, give him dogs abuse and death threats and weren't the most deluded, self entitled and demanding fans in the country he might just spend a bit more on the facilities. He's spent a bastard fortune on the team. Perhaps he's at the stage where he hates you as much as you hate him so doesn't spend HIS money on HIS club just to piss YOU off.

That's what I would do trust me.

What in the fuck are you talking about. Someone said Leeds were less attractive than us because they tumbled downt he league and were in the wilderness for ages and I said they're not now.

My 'agruement' is pretty simple. Leave the bricks and mortar to deteriorate and the club is less attractive than a well maintained option, especially if your asking price is high.

Aye OK sweetheart, calm down.

I don't want HIM to spend HIS money on our club. I want him to spend the club's money on the club. I want the training ground, the academy and the stadium to not be embarrassing for a top flight club. I want him to employ ambitious scouts and coaches and managers, to see the value in investing in the young players of the area, the value of keeping the training facilities contemporary.

Of course that's what you would do, you're a Sunderland fan that's more wrapped up in rivalry than reality. Your persona on here (and twitter) is one of pure contempt for Newcastle United and its fans. Which is all a bit ridiculous, for a grown up.

Well 'agrued'.

To be fair Exile, for the first few years the relationship was not too bad between the fans and Ashley. It has soured more and more over the time, but even in those first few years he never invested much in our infrastructure.

Additionally, if he wants to sell for the best price, surely investing in the infrastructure at some level is in his interests, as I believe he does what to sell, just at the high price he wants (which it is his right to ask for). Having players having baths in wheelie bins is pretty poor, and not likely to attract players of the quality needed to keep us in the PL year on year, which is again in Ashley's best interests in terms of having a higher asking price.

How do you know I'm a grown up?

For your info my contempt was just as high when I was a bairn.

If you want all of the things you listed maybe you should start a protest to get a murdering regime to buy and fund you with blood money.

Failing that you could always stop going on a Sunderland message board spouting absolutely mind numbingly boring bollocks and where you are seen as a figure of much hilarity and a a bit simple. 👍👍🤣🤣

@sabre Lad. His house is in order in his eyes, the Saudi offer proves it. Why should he invest when someone was going to pay over the odds anyway?

If you're not, then that explains a lot.

Are Leeds' owners murderers? Are Aston Villas? You're stating that the only way to get improvements to a football club is if they're owned by murderers.

Your insults genuinely don't bother me. Neither does the childishness of a load of other people on here.

Ashley is a brilliant owner and you know it. You wouldn't have been in existence now had he not bought you and pumped hundreds of millions in to make you a stable PL club.

I'm sure you're a nice bloke, you're just a bit wierd
