Shearer won the League at Blackburn but then gave up his aspirations for a bag of cash, he probably could have been huge, but made career choices not driven by the prospect of success. Above average, yes, but will be soon forgotten by history in a way other more successful strikers will not be. He couldn't even snatch the European Golden Boot, stepping aside for the only Englishman ever to win it despite his haul of penalties and a "pass it to Alan" policy.
I'm sure he would be keen, motivated purely by money- just like any player who signs up for a bag of money oozing with blood. Bit of a re-write on his time at SJP though from this club mouthpiece.
