It's bullshit. You built a statue to a man you sacked who never won a thing for you. he left under a cloud but as I say you appropriated the esteem the man was held in by some and all of a sudden he was your angel up in heaven.
Do you read stuff, or just look at who's posted and take your cue from that?

I've already agreed that Robson was criticised by the fans at the time he was fired by Shepherd and Hall. Partly due to the early form in 04/05 (0W2D2L) and partly a hangover from the disappointment at missing out on the CL the season before because of 1 win in 7 of the tail end of the 03/04 season. The board had already cut his legs from beneath him with their statement that it'd be his final season and he'd lost a portion of the dressing room and that showed in performances.

But lets be clear, it was the board who neutered then fired Robson, not the fans. Sure some of the fans were vociferous in their criticism, but we didn't 'hound him out' or anything like that. As an aside, isn't a little rich for a Sunderland fan to criticise anyone for hounding out managers when you go through them like toilet paper?
I hope you never win another game ever. That's been my hope forever and always will be.
I hate to tell you but that seems a hopeless hope. Even a team managed by Bruce, owned by Ashley, will win a game this season. You're better off hoping we're relegated, seems more likely.

I didn't see you asking for an enquiry into his sacking, no MPs asking questions in the house.

I don't read every post in the thread, I dip in now and then and sometimes comment.

This thread is about Newcastle, the comments reflect that. Sunderland's relationship with their managers isn't up for discussion on here. It gets talked about plenty elsewhere.

Hopeless hope? I've supported Sunderland for my entire time on this planet, it's the hope I can't stand.

Adored on Tyneside ? Only when the nation expressed its sadness then they thought we need to own that ! Don’t think Shepherd and Shearer adored him or the fans at the time but it suits their ‘caring’ agenda now ! f***ing hypocrites never forgave him for losing to little Sunderland !
Eh? He only lost to you once and did a league double over you in 02/03.

1) why would a fanbase that has averaged over 50k for 18 of the last 20 seasons as well as arguably the best away support in the country or certainly in the top few deserve a double relegation?

2) if sunderland had the european record we have do you not think that would give you lot a higher opinion of yourselves?

3) I don’t get how you lot say Ashley does a good job and we have nowt to complain about when you all know how shit Bruce is and that was a decade ago and football has
moved on a lot since. How can he run us well when he has appointed an absolute clown in charge and not for the first time.
1) You're a complete set of wankers and everyone in the country now hates you and sees how delusional you are

2) No we wouldnt

3) Hes a magnificent owner and you would have gone bust without him

1) big crowds don’t guarantee success. It’s what happens on the pitch that counts.
2) Our opinion of ourselves would remain the same. If you take social media out of the equation we are and always have been our own biggest critics. Ask anyone that goes to the match.
3) compare what you have to where we find ourselves.

Your massively envious ‘European record’ is history, literally doesn’t mean a thing.

Answer this truthfully, if Newcastle United had the First division record Sunderland has (6 league titles), would you lot have a higher opinion of yourselves?

no because no Newcastle fan would have been alive to see them. Just like we have 6 fa cups but why we or I never mention it as most of us weren’t born.

Playing loads of seasons and games in Europe still means something even if you don’t win anything. So someone like Lyon and Roma don’t have a good european record to speak of despite loads of european campaigns as they have never won a european trophy?
60 years and counting without a trophy

I wonder if in another 40 years time the mags haven't won a major trophy making it 100 years without winning major silverware they will still be bleating on about being a massive clerb

Into Robson's sacking? Well, no, there wouldn't be would there?

Why would anyone conflate the two issues?

Surely it's relevant though? He without sin and all that?

If you're not a fan of an elite club, hope is all you've got.

1) True enough, but a large attending fanbase is a marker of a club's relevance, no?
2) If you took social media out of the equation, attending fans of every club are that club's biggest critics.
3) Everybody's battles are their own. I'm sure there'll be Liverpool fans unhappy with their club, even now. There's stacks of Arsenal fans who were hyper-critical of their club despite consistently high league finishes, domestic trophies and European competition. And there'll be clubs whose fans look at your position with envious eyes and say you shouldn't complain.

I thought nobody in the country cares about us? Make your mind up.
You obviously do though, thousands of posts about Newcastle, NONE about your own club

Never have I said he wasn't criticised at the time. I said he is adored on Tyneside. Is linear time not an understood concept amongst the posters on here?

That's one thing I'll stick up for the mags for being a Geordie myself. Aye the mag mob idiot mentality went on and were nasty too him.

He was an all round good bloke though and 90% of their fans were on his side. Just the numpties demanding success tainted his image with them.
Which one? There’s 3 of the sad bastards thrashing away marra.

Mad Ian still proving he is off his tits.

Must be out of treats
