To be fair this applies to all football clubs that have an upturn in fortunes. You always get those that claim to be die-hards and offer their full undying love when things look to be on the up. But there are many many thousands of genuine Newcastle United fans that are actually die-hard fans, just as there are with Sunderland and all other clubs, whether you'/re at the top or at the bottom.

That won't change in any sport.

The reality is very simple. People/fans want to see their clubs battling at the top. Whether that's the top of the premier on top of the championship or league one or two and so on, into the non-league.

I've seen many people give up Newcastle. Lots of excuses as to why they won't go or why they won't buy a season ticket or even a scarf or mug from the shop. A lot are a massive bunch of hypocrites using Ashley as one example of why they won't do this or that. The very same that sang his praises when we were flying high in the championship and so on and so on.

The thing is it isn't just us. fans of all clubs do this. It just depends on how much of it is in the actual mainstream limelight as to whether it gets noticed.
Yep I agree all clubs have fans who stop going when they are shite and come back when they are decent, difference is all of the other fanbases don’t constantly claim to have the best fans in the world.
Mags will be fuming they were supposed to be taking over the world :lol:

Do all fans of other clubs condone a paedophile owner like you lot?

The thing is, who are the best fans in the world....or is there such a thing?
Who has the best mam in the world or dad or uncle...etc?

People like to big up and it can apply to anything to be fair.
You could...I say could...if you wanted to...say Sunderland fans are the best in the world. Who can prove you wrong and what proof actually stands up to scrutiny?

There is no way of proving who are the best fans in the world it’s just down to personal opinion and bias, that’s why I don’t get why Newcastle fans more than any other refer to themselves as that. Even Staveley does it but she is just playing to the crowd.
Of course they dont:rolleyes:.....that's why this thread is up to 182 pages/3628 comments in just over 5 weeks

Oh well if its in NUFC360 it must be true:rolleyes:
Thick as whale spunk you lad. They are showing what Bloomberg are reporting

It's exactly what you say. It's just collective bias.
Opposing fans can easily just cast it off and push their own personal and collective bias.

The same goes for West Ham. Always known as the academy of football, no matter what.
Then you get arguments all over the shop with fans taking sides with each other and calling each other proper fans as if other clubs' fans don't count.
Just bias and basically follow the leader kind of thing.

I mean Sunderland was known as the bank of England club and it stuck for long enough and fans went along with it all.

It's all about jumping on a bandwagon with bias and a following feel-good factor of a big up. It becomes a sort of contagious.

660 mile round trip on a Thursday night and sold out, fair play great effort 👏

You took less than 100 to Blackburn in Div 2 in 1979...I was 1 of the 4000ish crowd there

Man U and the real big teams have never had such shite away followings ever....they've never pretended to be Sunderland fans on a message board either

The bank of England didn't own SAFC you absolute spanner unlike KSA/PIF who own you, right down the your black souls. You are also aware that your owners are known for bombing school children, stoning women and are believed to be involved in the flying of planes into buildings. I'd rather have fuck all than be beholden to such odious people.

Talking to my cousin & brother over a pint at half time last night… we were despondent, sick as fuck, couldn’t see how we would get back in to a game against Fleetwood.

Worst still, we were discussing the very real prospect of what will be our 5th season in the 3rd tier and the pain inflected by Madrox and Short before them.

However, I’m serious when I say I wouldn’t swap places with the mags, I’d rather support Sunlun in the Northern League, than have sold our soul to the Saudi state and everything they stand for.
