No point in getting hyper about their takeover. It will be January before they can buy any players and I'm not too bothered about their situation, although it does amuse me seeing the hordes outside the landfill with nothing much happening. I'm more interested in what happens at the SoL, and it's going OK at present. Oh, and while I write this I remember....FTM
Tired of the meltdown on here. So fuck man. Nowt to do with us. Nothing we can influence. Just support us. Not easy but we're all Sunderland through and through.

I’m looking forward to our derby games in the Prem in the future. I want the Tyne Wear derby to be the best game in football. The more stable both clubs are, the more fun the rivalry will be. If they have a ridiculously big-budget team it’ll make it all the sweeter if we beat them. That’s what football rivalry is all about IMO.

Agree with the sentiment but let’s not get not take the moral high ground too much. After all the beauty of being a Mackem and not part of the geordie nation, for me, is an ability to be self critical and honest with ourselves.

Objectively in terms of football in general it’s a dark day. Journalist murdering, woman oppressive out of touch super elite scum have bought a British sporting institution (I’d say the same if was us, Crawley town or Liverpool FC) to sports wash the darkness that their corrupt donkey republic gets away with and for me is another sign of the continuation of the end of football as sport as we’ve known it for 100 + years (look at the 2 year World Cup proposals and the winter World Cup as more clear examples).

However in the last 10 years we’ve had sex offender footballers, a fascist manager and so while not in the same league as the Saudis our good rep has been dragged through the mud and for that reason I don’t think we should take the high ground.

What is noticeable as ever is the comparison of fan reaction (2 the only thing remotely similar ie when P Di C got hired as a manager) of which I’ll forever be eternally great full to have been born and raised by the wear.
We had local politicians complaining, they have them backing the takeover. We have our fans totally split, they have close to unanimous backing. Hell, we even had the Durham miners union taking their banner back.

maybe they’ll manage to buy success, maybe Bruce ‘ll take em down and we’ll give them a whooping next season. Either way after our own experiences with poor characters being associated with our club. Like you said I’m more that happy to have a young man who’s family are steeped in football tradition and are business savvy running our club and wouldn’t thank you at all for the billions they now have backing them.

We are still the best club in the north east. We don’t punch horses , smash phone boxes or invade the pitch trying to get play off games postponed when we are getting beat in the derby. We have a magnificent stadium and training academy and we are putting together a team of young players who play good football. Yeah we don’t have a bottomless pit of money to spend but neither do Liverpool. Our owner seems ambitious and comes from a football background through his family. Of course I would love to see us in the champions league with big name players but not ran by a bunch of murderers. We are a club with a proud history , a working class following of miners and ship builders. One of our ex players/chairman opened a children’s ward with his spare cash. Would you really swap all that just to become the richest club in the world?
Am I the only one who thinks the Scum will crash and burn?

Lots of assumptions:

  • They'll get the right people in to spend the money. Took City ages f***ing about before hitting the right formula.
  • They'll not get bored after a couple of seasons and pull the money away.
  • Sunderland will be affected negatively. Why? Sunderland's most successful period in recent history came shortly after Newcastle's rise. City/United seem to thrive, Everton aren't in the doldrums, the London clubs all seem to prosper despite their nearby rival's successes.
Your own club have an owner with more than enough resources and the desire to improve your situation; stop worrying about what other clubs are doing and enjoy your own revival.

Currently with our owners, I feel like I've won the lottery on the condition I have to live with Janet Street-Porter.

I think there will be consequences for the fans - how long before they are protesting outside about their new owners?

Have a think about this.
If Newcastle United can be regenerated, including the city then Sunderland being a close neighbour in the north east could also benefit massively from the knock on effect.
The north east big two could become a force to be reckoned with. A revitalised hotbed of football.

The potential is there.

Nice try. I hope they move your seat and increase your ticket price and take alcohol out the ground and install Dennis wise and and and and and and and.
