This thread very quickly stopped talking about Norwich and began talking about Newcastle, then came the implication that it's better to be rock bottom of the Premier League than top of the Championship from an Everton fan. I refute that, wholeheartedly.
irrespective of who started, the post I was referring to was talking utter nonsense, "no problem staying up". If the choice was for you to go up and be in a relegation struggle, you would still take it. Its just bizarre to think otherwise
Mind judging by his record you'd think he'd want to keep his mouth shut

To be honest, should we get promoted I expect the squad that Rafa assembles for the 17/18 season to be capable of safety, rather than just survival.

I guess all of the lower league supporters expect that upon promotion. Doesn't always pan out that way though

I don't think that's true, I think that Hull fans fully expected a very tough season. Barnsley fans certainly expect little more than a valiant effort.

Oh and you missed a trick there, you could have called Newcastle fans deluded/arrogant.

don't worry, I intimated the latter in my original post.

Don't be f***ing stupid man, you have a good Championship squad and that there is no doubt. Jesus f***ing wept, what do we say about Mags again? And the penultimate point is utter f***ing nonsense but makes you feel good. I take it that if by any chance, no matter how small in your tiny little mind, that the mighty Newcastle are struggling, you'd accept relegation again
You are in the Championship winning games, so what man. Every other club in the country would want to be in the Premeirship, but not you lot.
Not once have I said I don't want us to be in the premier league, but what I wouldn't want is to be in the situation you find yourselves in every season.
Our club are making changes for the best, a fantastic manager, money in the bank and seemingly on our way back wanting to make a good go of things, we are in a far better position for the future.

We went down, took relegation on the chin and got everyone pulling in the same direction, the future is looking bright, and we already have in my opinion a decent lower level premier league team, and as said with 4-5 quality additions, which isn't too much to expect considering who our manager is and the fact hes been backed so much already, isn't a long stretch.

Its a good time to be a Newcastle fan.

you also would rather have been in your position in August 2015. http://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/mags-spending-loads.1121227/#post-21117268
The time to gloat is when you actually achieve, not when you are about a dozen games into the second division campaign when anything can go wrong. Good on you for being optimistic but a "good time for being a Newcastle fan" is when you are back in the Premiership. It's a good time to be a Huddersfield fan, maybe a Brighton fan and whilst I understand it is nice winning games, Newcastle are used to the Premiership. There is also no guarantee that Rafa can perform miracles, he was culpable in taking you down after all.

We shouldn't enjoy winning games because we are used to the Premier League?

I'd also say that it wouldn't be miraculous for Rafa to build on the good start he's made, it would be comparatively mundane to, say, Ranieiri winning the title with LEicester a season after a great escape.

no, he said he it's a good time to be a Newcastle fan, it's bollocks bravado, why should a club like Newcastle be happy with playing second division football? Only you lot would boast about this sort of thing a dozen games in. Rafa has lost 3 games, didn't Chris Hughton only lose 4 all season? Again only you lot could worship someone who had enough time to save you but couldn't and then fail to beat Villa.

It's a good time to be a mag as they love giving it the bigun because we are doing shite. If we were doing well they wouldn't be popping up on our forums.

Sad as fuck mags man

well basically yes. They've been having Sunderland Relegation parties for years. Well if it's that good, I think I'll have one myself

Is it boastful to say it's a good time to be Newcastle fan? I don't think so. I think it's taking joy from the positivity around the club. A football fan likes his team winning games and playing well, right? With capable, relatable players and a manager who is both likeable and talented. Compared to the dross we've endured, this is a good time to be a Newcastle fan. Ashley has loosened control of the money and given the control of transfers, coaching,.. pretty much all club business to an excellent manager.

I know a Sunderland fan will denigrate Rafa Benitez, and try to twist reality to "prove" he's not a good manager, but Newcastle fans see that he's a much better manager than we expected to end up with, and it needed a manager of his standing to wrest control of the club away from Mike Ashley and his yes-men.

Thus far, he's doing fine.

Here's on for the sad mag bit of a blow your mind headfuck....

They are buzzing that they are in the championship and winning games and laughing at us for being in the premiership and having the usual slow start...

So if we do actually go down and they come up then we will be in the position they are gloating about so surely in mag logic we have the upper hand?

I'll bite then. You have a bigger pool of players, but the line up tonight on the BBC you must have less than 150 Championship appearances combined in that starting 11. Looking at the bench I don't think any of them have kicked a ball in the Championship before this season. Compare that to Norwich who have several players of vast experience at the Championship level as well as a manager who has gained promotion before from that division. It is going well at the minute but the wheels will fall off

A lot of their players in the first team havn't kicked a ball in the championship before this season, but they're still top of the league.

All this "Championship experience" is utter bollocks. If you're a good player you're a good player and you'll stand out miles in that league, just like their players are. The same for their manager, it's makes absolutely no difference if he's had experience in that league or not. He's a world class manager and that will tell in the end.

All this "needing championship experience" is absolute bollocks and a lot of our lot are proper clutching at straws.

By this thought process Derby should be miles ahead of Newcastle due to having "more championship experience" in the team and their manager. But they're not are they. The same can be said for nearly all the teams in the Championship. It's bollocks and Newcastle are proving this. The *****!

That's a post to remember for us next season, when we'd likely be near the top end of the championship & you lot near the bottom of the premiership.

At that point, it'll be better to be a Sunderland fan using your logic then?

He's played 13 second division games man and you are quoting points per game and goals scored, yet it is us who try to twist reality :lol:

You could just as easily be like Villa should you be relegated. Even Bruce might come back.

Typical deluded, arrogant mackems thinking you would walk the championship.

It's a wonder how teams settle in The Championship considering all of this 'Championship experience' should see you successful. Total paradox.

No, because of the things I've mentioned, better manager, better players, able to attract better players, money to spend etc... its all about the bigger picture and making steps, which I'm certain we will do.
