I pre-booked a ticket yesterday and literally standing at the train station now. The train turned up 7 minutes late and were told there wasn’t enough space to get on. Now I have to wait an hour for the next one or get the bus.Some of the conditions I’ve seen on trains last few weeks have been ridiculous, like a herd of cattle. It’s totally unacceptable.

It’s been exactly the same under labour marrabut its 2021, its not the 70s anymore. give it a chance in the modern world. we either have it privatised, ran for the maximum amount of profit for shareholders as possible....or......nationalise it and put those profits back into network. everyone agrees its utter shite, so why not give another system a try? whats the worst that can happen?
aren't we supposed to be trying, as a nation, to reduce our carbon emissions? improve public transport to the levels we see on the continent, and it would reduce the amount of cars on the road

The DfT picks up all the costs of the franchise and pays a 2% management charge to the operator with a potential of upping that to 4% if performance targets are met, which they can’t be as infrastructure improvements are never delivered.not necessarily. without shareholders taking billions in profits, that money can, and would be, reinvested into the system.
