Here is a bit of trainspotter type info. As most people know Blyth were in the hat for the sixth round of the cup in 1978 and would have played Arsenal had they won a replay with Wrexham. The very next season the next time Blyth were in the hat they came out with Boldon or Billingham in a fourth qualifying tie. On a rainy Wednesday afternoon at the Colliery ground in front of about 250 Billingham won the replay in extra time and Boldon lost the chance of what would have been a glamorous tie. In those days most smaller clubs did not have lights.
