Nissan

There’s some interesting stuff online about BYD and the wider electric car market in China.

Where the bulk of its funding being Chinese government investment, so they can undercut European built cars substantially.
Part of the Chinese master economic plan.

The unsustainable infrastructure of it, the shady practice of selling cars to shell corporations at the end of the month to hit sales targets.

The company itself looks profitable but a lot of analysts are saying it’s basically the next Evergrande when things inevitably go pop.
The simple answer is to stop buying Chinese cars / EV's as they are ruining all the EU and also more importantly for us the UK legacy manufacturers too...
As you say the Chinese governments plan is to subsidise them to the hilt to undercut and try to get rid of every EU/UK car maker then probably put them up 10 fold when you have no other option but them left...
I know I will never buy one, as mentioned previously I bought a new petrol Juke Tekna+ 3 months ago and am loving it though only done 300 miles so far..
I don't mind the idea of Nissan building cars here for them though, creating/retaining local jobs as they will come here anyway regardless and we know they will at least be built right and safe, something we can only guess at on half of the Chinese things coming in now... 🤔
Having said that if I was in charge I would be either banning them totally or severely restricting all Chinese cars coming here with a tiny import quota, which is funnily enough what happened back in the day with Japanese cars and why Nissan originally built NMUK here to get their cars into Europe cheaper when classing them as European built...
Strange times though when people are coveting Jaecoo's and BYD's over proper European cars that have been around for over 60 years just because they are a bit cheaper... 🤔

Well sorry I retired after 35 years at NMUK and don't get out much now as the gym and the shops are both literally 1 mile away..
I did do 20k miles a year for 35 years going there though so don't miss that in the slightest, especially at £2 a litre for diesel... 🤣
Perfect time when the weather gets lovely. 🤣
Not to mention the world cup games!!!
At least I know I won't miss the final on a Sunday night because I am on 3 shifts - one benefit of being retired...🤔

Ah, good old Steve 'Chocolatee' Clare.
I got lost in a cave with him once on a team building exercise when I was a 16 YO apprentice and he was the responsible adult . He had a full on panic attack so I had to look after him till we were 'rescued', about 5 minutes later.

Nissan will be finished if Reform get into power.
Even if labour get back in, Nissan have huge problems anyway. Losing multiple billions worldwide isn’t govt fault, the writing was on the wall when the Chinese started producing cars and they’ll do nothing but get better over time, whether Nissan can survive that is anyone’s guess… but this is pretty much what Nissan did when they entered the markets years ago, making better value for money cars than the existing brands at the time
