Nissan

A mate has worked there all his working life iirc (40 plus years), so should get a decent payout
I worked at my place 29 years. I got £14K statutory.

It depends on what they are offering. If it's the absolute basic he might get £20K if he's lucky.

2 of my mates got circa £100K out of Nissan but one was an an engineer the other a senior so not your line monkeys.

14k isn’t much for 29 years

I’m sure I’ll get the gen on his situation in time. I hope he can pull the pin and retire

It isn't knowledge but life is uncertain. I started a good, new job a few years ago after taking redundancy. 2 and a half months later the administrators arrived and we were all laid off. I had to take a £10K a year wage cut just to get a job to keep the wolves from the door.

After about a year I got a job similar to what I had lost, all turned out OK but it took a while. Then 4 years later COVID stuck and I was laid off again 😂

You need to keep your wits about you. Nothing is guaranteed in this world. Especially for people who work at Nissan suppliers who are generally unskilled manual workers.
Expect the unexpected .

£14k for 20 yrs , that is poor mate.

Been laid off twice, first time there for 9 months and got £12k, the second time was there 7 years and got nearly £30k.

29 years.

I can't remember what I got 2nd time. Not much. I threatened them with court for unfair dismissal and settled for £800 out of court. They didn't follow due process, an absolute embarrassing shambles but I'd just had a heart attack so didn't have the energy for a battle.

God, firms do anything to get awkward fuckers out the door.
Cheers!

They were in the shit due to having loads of orders cancelled due to COVID. I had no problem with that. What I did have a problem with is not being put in a pool for redundancy and just being told you're out on your arse.

I thought the (newish) manager was a wanker. So did others. He took credit for everything whether it was his doing or not (often not) and brown nosed his way to a directorship. He was typical tight arsed Jock.

He reckoned he was going to do part of my job. I knew that was bullshit. They piled the vast majority of my work on the admin and she fucked off elsewhere not long after I left as they were taking the piss.

The lost 2 decent people but to be fair they had to something due to a bad situation that wasn't of their making.

Worrying this. Can NSK see a Nissan shaped iceberg on the horizon and see no future or do we think that production costs are just getting too high? Either way it's not great.

NSK don't supply Nissan like but carry on.
Where did I say they did?

I was referring to your post saying they would get jobs there straight away if they waited for redundancy.

But carry on... got yourself that rattled you've forgot what point you started it all with.

I got about 14k after 22 years compulsory inc a small enhancement considering you hear about people getting huge wedges
I’m always circumspect about this mind as some people lump in payments in lieu etc
Was kicking myself as could of took voluntary 6 months earlier and got a bit more but I was assured then I was “vital” but over next 6 months was managed out of the company despite my protests all covered in writing
Lack of suppirt
Goal posts changing
Unrealistic targets compared to others

Used all this after being put at risk and either external legal people who said don’t bother making an unfair dismissal claim as the amount you’ll get is not worth the grief

I took voluntary redundancy after seeing what kind of mess they were making of the company by some of the nuggets they were keeping on, who's jobs weren't at risk.

Sure enough after being majorly bailed out and propped up by a family member for a few years the company went completely tits up. So sad to see but inevitable when you have clueless buggers in charge.

Got some satisfaction in the fact that the two faced twat (a jock) who used to go on as though he was your mate and banter about football, music etc got bladdered completely out of the blue 6 months later
