Nissan

Weekends are overtime man they aren’t your standard shifts ! And you don’t work weeks on a night ! What a whopper
Now you don't work them, so you lose your 12% bonus that you got for working them, ya daft wankshaft.... I've worked nights on the same rates as I was getting for days, weekends included, 72 hours a week, ere there's 🎻🎻🎻 just for yay.

Some places aren't Nissan, weekend work is overtime end of, 39hours contract Monday through Friday, with a shift allowance and overtime being paid for weekend time and a half Saturdays and double time on a Sunday

a bonus is a one off payment broth heed ,you don’t work at Nissan why are you trying to argue with someone who’s been here coming up 30 yrs

It's irrelevant what the allowance was called; it was a way of making a job worth turning up for..

A physical job where the place shuts down in the summer and over Xmas so you have to take the lion's share of your holiday entitlement on their terms with mandatory overtime doesn't sound very appealing to me for a few hundred quid a month extra.

Work smart, not hard.

Work smart AND hard if you want

But don't be Boxer the horse.

Said earlier in the thread I did a bit of temp work for a supplier after being made redundant, in January we got a brief sent around with this years holidays which had 5 floating days and the rest shutdowns and bank Holidays. Job wasn't too bad but not a chance I'd work somewhere I couldn't choose my own holidays.

I'm not arguing you are, if it wasn't a retractable offer/bonus it would not be getting taken from the table, as you are no longer doing that specific work you were being rewarded for previous, it's you who started arguing and getting your nickers in a twist name calling ya little spenk....

Whenever someone mentions they've worked in that place for a long time it conjures up images of Tenko for me.
You should have seen it in the 80's lol, there were lots of Japanese Nissan staff here getting it all sorted and training people for a good couple of years...

You felt obliged to bow to them as they walked past in the corridors as they always did the same to you...To be fair they all seemed canny people...

Remember the first MD Toshurigi Tsuchiya came over on a plant visit once and stood on a platform and talked to everyone stood in front of him in Japanese !! 🤔

Now that did feel like Tenko, the big Japanese boss shouting at you in a foreign language, still I lasted 35 years so can't have been all bad...

It’s not been taken off us we aren’t working lateshift anymore !!!! Taking it off someone would still be working lates and removing it !

Like two bald fellas fighting over a comb, not working the same shift pattern so lose the shift bonus, does it really matter what you want to term it😂

It isn't an allowance. They aren't taking something away for no reason.

They are dropping the lads down to day shift only due to a lack off demand and they are losing a shift percentage as they no longer work shifts.

I had similar in my former job. We were paid time plus a third for working nights. It was dropped down to time and a quarter. Then some people were dropped to early / backs which was time plus a sixth. This was over a few years.

Unfortunately some people over stretch themselves and rely on O/T and shift allowances. Never wise as it's not guaranteed.
I always remember when I turned 18 and was working in a factory the manager took me and another lad of same age to one side and told us never to rely on shift allowance or overtime as they come and go. It was good advice and I listened to him and the other lad took no notice he didn't have a pot to piss in when both dried up.

It happened where I worked many moons ago. Those who were in good financial positions tended to be happy that they had a better lifestyle on day shifts. Naturally those where money is tight didn't like losing the shift allowance.
