Nissan

Obvious solution is to nationalise the Luton site and bring back British Leyland. What could possibly go wrong?
Bring our lasses 86 year old Dad out of retirement he used to sell them.
Smooth talking bastard could sell out and still has the old girls swooning when he goes out!

Still remember the chocolate brown Austin Allegro estate which my dad had in the late 70s. Forever breaking down and used to take 7 of us on holiday with my brother and me in the boot.

Amazing any of survived that decade.

Aye my old man had a sand glow coloured Marina estate it was 8 years old when he scrapped it. Just prior to that he had 9 people in it including me and 2 of my mates🤣

Hopefully things improve soon lads and EV mandate is extended soon. However I say this with a different perspective though, as a long term driver of EV's, it's more incorrect opinions/ poor EV knowledge that needs sorting rather than poor infrastructure. I started with a leaf on NEVOS, when this was pulled from the scheme I had a QQ, couldn't wait to give it back and get in another EV. Bought my own for cheaper repayments than an equivalent ICE car, I had no at home charging facilities for a long time and used public whilst out, takes less time to plug in and go off about my business than queuing, filling and paying... I've been to London, the Cotswolds a few times and average 6 trips to the lakes per year. I've never had issues finding a charger local to my destination, on the 2 occasions a charger hasn't worked over the years, there has been one available next to it. When we have headed south, we have used motorway chargers (expensive but less than diesel) and a top up charge takes around 40 minutes. It's hardly waiting though, by the time the jameater had stretched her legs and been to the toilet. My only gripe is the insurance is more than an ICE equivalent, but I'm still better off with savings on fuel and maintenance. The biggest issue is the anti EV brigade being set in their ways that need converting.

Is it anti EV brigade or people just not wanting ones for valid reasons?

Anyone can see the place is top heavy with middle management with very little to do and earning a fortune . Too many jobs for the boys in every department
The same in most big businesses tbf.
The govt must intervene and amend the timescales for their EV targets , or even scrap them all together. Its clearly causing major issues in the car industry now
The 2030 ban and fines on manufacturers for missing EV sales targets is the problem.

This has all been done “ on the back of a fag packet” and not thought out at all. A u turn will be soon announced, nothing more certain.

80% of new cars must be EV by 2030 otherwise manufacturers get hit with massive fines ? If I have that right it is Crazy.
As things stand “most” people don’t want an EV , the infrastructure certainly isn’t there amongst other issues . Need to move that 80% target back to 2040. Infact should the govt be interfering at all in the market ?

As I say, “back of a fag packet” policies. They haven’t factored in that the vast majority of people just do not want an EV, and that isn’t going to change anytime soon, even green king Ed Milliband doesent own one..

Hitting the manufacturers with massive fines because of this is only going to end one way, sadly for the staff.

100% Ev or hybrid.

I would like someone in the government to advise us how we are going to charge them tbf. Pretty fundamental

Labour have only just brought the 2030 timescale back in after the previous Government raised it to 2035 and have said(today) that it will not change. All so we can say we are leading the world on zero emissions while our carmakers fold.

On here said labour is the party that will
Help
Nissan ? It’s all a joke imo. More wages more bonus lumps sums. Be thankful for a job is my advice and hope you keep it.

Management need to get a brief out ASAP addressing the news article. Be far too many rumours flying around and morale will be affected otherwise.

That’s the problem people assume there aren’t any chargers because they are not in your face like petrol stations, there is loads , it’s not different if your driving a petrol car somwhere your not familiar with you have to find a petrol station if your low on fuel . They need to educate people on charging more
