Nissan

Leon DORSSERS

Nissan AMIEO Senior Vice President

Marketing & Sales

Sales performance per sub-region

  • In Africa, despite significant TIV drop and aggressive competition, our retail performance in October (4.4k units and 5.5% market share) was broadly in line with latest forecast.
  • In the Middle East, where new Patrol continues to perform very well, we significantly overachieved forecast with 11.6k units and 6.9% market share. Infiniti sales reached 346 units.
  • India saw a significant drop of its TIV in October vs. forecast. In this context our retail sales were below BP and forecast with 2.6k units and 0.6% market share.
  • Robust performance in Europe as we sold 24.8k units in October (1.9% market share), in line with latest forecast, with strong order trend.

To achieve this, Nissan will cut global production capacity by 20% and reduce its global workforce by 9,000. The company is implementing various measures to lower selling, general, and administrative expenses, decrease the cost of goods sold, rationalize its asset portfolio, and prioritize capital expenditures and investments in research and development.
CEO Makoto Uchida will voluntarily forfeit 50% of his monthly compensation starting in November 2024 and the other executive committee members will also voluntarily take a pay reduction accordingly.
We would appreciate your feedback following this announcement. It will take only about 5 minutes.

Feet first into the electric market before infrastructure in place . If I ask anyone to name 5 local fuel garages where they live . They csn name them . Ask them where 5 electric charging stations are nearby . They don't know and probably isn't in place . Iv watched people queue in cars to wait for an electric charging unit . Then stand in rain attaching it to car. Its farcical. Was never going to take off. Long long road ahead for people to move over to electric vehicles . That the real truth . It will get worse before it gets better !!!

Then stand in rain attaching it to car.
You'd think they'd sit in the car or go for a coffee.

How many Leafs have they sold in 12 - 13 years?
. Iv watched people queue in cars to wait for an electric charging unit .
As you will of at filling stations.
Ask them where 5 electric charging stations are nearby
Google/Google Maps/various apps perhaps

Why would u sit in car or go for coffee .
Wasting your valuable time
When you can go under a garage forecourt. Fuel up immediately and drive away in a matter of minutes given the choice of both options ?? . Can an electric car reach London in 1 journey ?? Or do u have to stop and charge up on way ?? Are electric cars very affordable so to massively encourage people to buy them ??
Think the reason nissan doing standowns and Volkswagon closing factories in Germany and thousands of jobs going speaks volumes. And u can paint a lump of shit in as much gold paint as you want. It's still a lump of shit !! Long long road ahead before situation improves !!

Aye but the Sunderland plant isn't currently building any fully electric vehicles so this big drop off in volumes isn't due to lack of EV infrastructure.

I disagree with this mind. We’ve been solely electric for a few years (previously had one electric / one diesel) and I could list ten plus electric charging points within ten minutes of home. (Live in SR2).

Plus - we don’t have a charger at home.

Anyway, I won’t derail the thread. I hope everyone at Nissan Sunderland is unaffected by today’s news.

Obviously ICE cars aren't selling well.Same with leisure vehicles, the post COVID boom is over and prices have flatlined/falling.As for VW and Nissan the Chinese have muscled in quickly in the EV market.Renault and Citroen have also been quick to knock out some good priced decent looking EV's.

The biggest positive for Nissan sunderland and suppliers at current time
Is the fact its currently a Labour government
Which in previous history is for the workers and entrenched with the Unions
So if any shit hit the fan
Nissan will go to government asking for bailout and grants which they know they will get . And no chance unions which is the backbone of the Labour government would allow Nissan sunderland to close
Simple as that
