I don’t think we need to get carried away trying to sign players from big teams like this. Our strategy of signing relative unknown players and/or players who are out of favour (plus Xhaka) has worked a treat so far.

If I was Flo, Kyril, etc. I’d be focussing on keeping Enzo, Sadiki, Xhaka, Mukiele, Roefs and then just adding a few additions to strengthen the depth we have, along with 2 starting wingers.

and sadiki.
It’s a difficult conundrum but we need more and better players but at the expense of who?
We desperately need someone ready and able to fill the void left by Xhaka and inevitable future absences, someone to Gee up the other players, organise and lead by example
I reckon stones could do that job but he is likely off to greener more lucrative pastures. Another bloke at city who is a hell of a player and rarely gets a game is kovacevic (sp)
But no doubt Ghisolfi has many names in his black book (I hope)

He’s 24, so the resale value point just isn’t true
His price will be north of 30m and wages north of 150k pw
He wouldn’t come here, again to be a non starter
Are we dropping Xhaka or Sadiki
Dont get me wrong he is a fine player but we don’t have finances to be shopping at football equivalent of Harrods

We won't be shopping in the £40m/£50m range. We'll be looking at similar deals to last year, £15m - £25m with value. We need to keep building a squad and also need to be careful with the tighter UEFA financial rules / homegrown rules to comply with

He's a good player, but I reckon our recruitment team can find a lad to rotate with Xhaka, who'll not command a fee of 40m upwards.

Being Xhaka's understudy is a tough sell to any recognised/experienced DCM, I think we'll have to go down the route of a younger player who's highly thought of, who's further down the radar of the big clubs.

He would be superb.
Wages would be an issue but we need to aim high.. sell the journey and maybe they’ll change their view on wages.

Doubt he’d come tho

Re Wages , if he wants to leave City he will likely have to take a pay cut where ever he goes. Probably still too high for us though

Well said mate, nail on head. Everyone keep calm and let the people in charge do their thing, this will be a right tricky bastard to get right.

I wouldn't touch Stones with a barge pole. Way too injury prone and the wages too.
I could see a change in training/physio possibly being a big thing for stones. Not saying he will play 38 + cups next season but certainly more than the last couple of years. I know it doesn’t always work like this but DCL shows a change can be a big thing, different training and recovery can be huge.

Saying that if still not want to risk it and I hope he goes to Italy or somewhere outside of the PL and has a great last couple of years of his career in the sun.

It just isn't worth the risk. Leeds got lucky with DCL. It might bite them on the arse next season.

Aye that’s what I mean, if you can afford the wages or he is willing to take a massive cut and then big bonus on game time the change might be great but £100k+ a week would be a crazy decision for anyone in our position.
