Very surprised to see the bloke in charge of a team 12th in League 1 who has never managed above league 1 having more than double the votes of anyone else.

Managing the pressures around MK Dons is a wholly different proposition to managing SAFC.
Anyone else is a dinosaur ……….
Please vote based on the choices below, provided alphabetically, for the next Sunderland permanent manager. There is a none of the above option, but please only select that if you genuinely think there is a better option realistically available. Poll will run for seven days or until there is concrete new - your vote can be changed over time if you wish.
Perhaps the field should now be narrowed to the most popular 5. Would be good to see where the other votes would go.

We should this like a leadership election. We’ve had >1,400 votes, so now take out anybody that has <5% of the votes, and start again with the remaining candidates.

Think club not into hiring managers at other clubs, unless coincidence.

Parky , LJ, Golem and now probably Mowbray.

Also Keane was in hunt when we got Golem.

Mobray is the 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice of the club. Was so when Sky announced it and remains so now. Anything else is just to pretend there was a process imo.

Probably finer details like what happens if he does well, or another club makes an approach...

😉😀 Heh heh. To be fair I was being a bit arsey about ‘getting on with it’ because I’ve been peppering other threads with that. It’s a new hobby. Plus my more considered and reasonable take; which is more to do with how a club that boasts a sustainable business model and operates on rolling contracts should have ways of working in place that enable as speedy a selection and appointment process as possible based on intelligence and information gathering similar to that which I presume happpens in the player scouting and recruitment set-up.

I’d also imagine there are pro-forma contracts from which both parties have absolutes and ‘pick-lists’ from which to select. It’s not rocket science. Shouldn’t take too long. Tomorrow will be fine.
Nathan jones

He’s been gone too long.

If it's Mowbray let's hope it's announced today and he can pick up the phone to Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool and get some players in on loan! We are desperate now

I can’t remember who said it but one rovers fan said he had a decent relationship with both City and Liverpool re loans.

Mind you at Blackburn he was far closer geographically to both clubs.

In spite of his modesty it’s no surprise that clubs like Liverpool, City & Everton sent some of their best young players to Rovers. He trusted them & developed them. He has those great contracts but he’s trusted too because of how he views the game. I think he’s ace.

Keane is unlikely, Warnock is getting on a bit so I voted for Philips, I would like him to be manager at some point so why not now.

Wouldn't mind a Warnock/Philips combo.

Replacing Gollum with Sam the Eagle from the muppets.

There is a joke to be made about the relative approaches of advanced CGI to puppeteering, but I don't know enough about Mowbray to know if it is a fair comparison.

Voted Dyche, but that would be like clicking 'Margot Robbie' in a poll of women you might sleep with when the other options are yer Ma and yer Sister.

Rooney??? Feck he'd come, get us relegated, then feck off laughing

Obviously manning has run away with this, but would he not be a similar choice to Jack Ross? Young, good repitation, unproven...

Dyce and Mowbray pretty close together in second and third, suggesting that Mowbrag isnt as unpopular a choice as some are making out. Dyche is a bit of a hoofball mefchant though iirc.

I think with a young squad, we need an old head to manage them. Dyche isn't someone to manage a young team and maybe its too soon and too big for Manning.
