Reports saying Ashley waiting for FSWs decision.

Think Ashley is unlikely to change his approach, and won't like being told how to do things by the manager or being made to look bad in public, which is how it's been for two years with Ashley vs Benitez.
I don't think Ashley has any interest in keeping Benitez.
Don't think Benitez wants to stay either.
I'll be extremely shocked if Benitez signs a new deal.

You not think its an extremely lucrative wage for little hassle and close to his family?

Lets be honest here, rivalry aside.

If Ashley has offered him the same wage (4/5 mil per year??)

Is there any other club willing to pay those wages? Which clubs bigger than Newcastle would seriously consider him now?

My opinion is Rafa is touting himself about but not getting much luck. I think he'll go whoever pays him the most, even if it's Ashley.

Nail firmly hit on head, it's always about himself, first, second and third.

Like Allardyce here. If he hadn't been given the England job I still think he'll have been Palace's Manager a few months later as, like Benitez, he was hinting at being unhappy with transfer funds available which is the perfect excuse to leave with your reputation intact.

100k a week isn't that much these days for a good manager.
Benitez could probably get that wage or very similar at most other places.
I don't think the money is the issue, although obviously you want to be fairly paid.
Pellegrini is on about £7m a year at west ham. Ancelotti on £10m a year at Napoli.
What Newcastle are paying seems high, but as with west ham, to get a good manager to drop down to your level you need to pay a bit more.

The proximity to the family is perhaps a factor.

Where?

Anywhere that wanted to sign him.
He could earn 20 million in China.
Thierry Henry got 25 million euros at Monaco.
If Benitez is all about the money surely he'd have left for China after 2016 instead of signing a three year contract

Was he linked with a move to China or did he just happen to mention it before he signed his deal with you?

There is a few pics on facebook of all the Sports direct logos being taken down at St James today. :?: Cleaning or something else, but interesting (at least as far as this takeover stuff anyway).

Yeah but I vaguely recall the Sports direct signs still being there during the rugby, but i may be mistaken.

There's a link in the comments to the chronicle website where it addresses the original tweet about it, and it says they're being taken down for cleaning.
