Broadly the same? Nah, not for me, worse by almost every performance metric and with better squad to boot.

Sorry I said broadly the same what I really meant was slightly better with a better premiership points ratio and having to do so last season with Joelinton who was forced on him instead of Rondon and Perez who were very good players for Rafa. If his squad is better then its only right now that its the case with Wilson and Fraser being bought in on frees. Bruce maybe relies on ASM a lot but Rafa wouldn't have entertained him more concerned about what he cant do than can.

He did a right number on a percentage of your fans you included.

Benitez bought some shite like almiron, Murphy, mutu the mags best player is ASM who was bought by Bruce

The players and manager knew they were beat at home to Brighton like....pretty much from the first minute.

Bruce deserves some credit but he also deserves criticism. We have been decent against West Ham and Burnley but woeful against Blackburn, Brighton, spurs and Newport. Not just below par. Woeful.

we’re not going to be great every game, who is ?
We’ve had a good start to the season undoubtedly. People need to manage their expectations really.
each to their own but im certainly happier under Bruce than I am his predecessor. Of course that may change but as it stands that’s where I am on it.

There’s a difference between not great and being absolutely woeful though. Bit short sighted to ignore those performances.

And exactly the type of player that Benitez wouldnt touch with a bargepole.

Not really - I doubt you dwelt to much when Benitez was getting his arse kicked 3-0 away to Oxford. Do his utterly woeful performances not count?

f***ing hell man some in fact a load of games under Benitez the ones I watched on sky the performances were truly awful, you were terrible to watch but you lot forget all that
Also Bruce has taken you lot further in the cups than king Rafa ever did.

Course they do mate. There just wasn’t that many

They weren’t always pretty to watch but we very rarely rolled over and got our tummies tickled.

Rafa the hero. He might have a worse record in league and cup than a fat useless dinosaur of a manager that fails every where he goes but he deserves all of the starry eyed praise he can get due to his massive achievement of not letting you 'get your tummy tickled'.

Hail WAFA!

You as Sunderland fans know Bruce’s limitations as a manager. You’ve seen them first hand. That’s what we have now. He’s doing an okay job with the resources he has. I’m not sure how long he can keep getting lucky results like spurs away and beating Newport. I hope it continues, really I do, but at some point it will run out.

That's the Rafa obsessors inside out. Newcastle draw in the league but are lucky because they had less shots, possession etc. You get through at Newport with nearly 70% possession and 27 shots at goal and you are still lucky. If you win the cup I swear for some of you it would be tainted.

im not ignoring them, we were terrible yet in the cups and Spurs we dug out results. That’s football. There’ll be times were good and lose, it happens.
You could easily say you’re ignoring the great performances against Burnley and West Ham.
What sticks in my throat is that when we were terrible under Rafa it was the owners fault but now poor performances are Bruce’s fault.

Like I say above. Disasters under Benitez were conveniently the owners fault.

depressingly, there’s a substantial amount of our fan base who do not want us to do well so they can finally get to say “I told you so”

How many games under Benitez was dubravka motm f***ing loads that's how many. The amount of games where the mags had about 30 percent possession hardly had a shot on target but nicked the game whilst dubravka kept them in it
It's staggering that they still think he was some kind of genius but in reality if it wasn't for the keeper they would have been beat a lot more

It was f***ing funny when they had that disastrous start at the beginning of Rafa's last year. They were terrible and the fans were all throwing their toys out of the pram 'What is he supposed to do with that shower of shite?' Not an ounce of blame and of course when he turned it around and they got 45 points it was some godly act. Then Bruce some f***ing dinosaur of a manager comes in without the quality front 2 rafa had, did the same and was better in the cups.

They are certifiable man.

Net spend was holding Rafa back.

The mugs weren’t lucky to beat Newport. They were the better team.
Its correct to assume that ASM wouldn’t get in a Rafa team.

Mags logic

Rafa wins game it's Rafa is a genius, world class
Rafa loses game it's Ashley's fault
Rafa loses cup game it's Ashley's fault as he can't play a strong team

Bruce wins game it's shite football and lucky
Bruce loses game it's Bruce's fault dinosaur manager
Bruce loses cup game it's Bruce's fault he should play a strong team

Absolutely embarrassing behavior from NUFC fans

By having better players in it.

Absolute rubbish to suggest he had a better squad last season mind. Front 2 of Carroll & Joelinton is better than Rondon & Perez is it?

Only improvement was the Saint who was bought by Bruce.

This season I would say you do have a better squad, Bruce deserves credit for that.

Rafa spunked his transfer money on utter shite most of the time, at least Bruce brings in players who improve your team. He deserves credit for that

Rafa was a fraud it's embarrassing the idolisation he gets for doing absolutely nothing at NUFC bar a promotion that Hughton also achieved.
