huddersfield, fulham and cardiff to go down.

mags stay up relatively comftably in that 11th-16th zone. enter next season, and they haven't 'kicked on', a home loss here, and bad performance there, drop into the relegation zone in november on goal difference and the natives become restless, again, because the players aren't trying or ashley hasn't bought a solid gold stadium, unable to recognise that unfortunately that is the way for all but 6 clubs in the country, the bedsheets come out again. round and round they go.

You mustn’t be talking about Allardyce then as he has been relegated before with Notts County. Had longer than Benitez to save them too.

Not from the Premier League he hasn’t

Would it still be classed as a ‘miracle’ if they stay up?

The points they already have are a miracle when Ashley sold all their best players and bought no one, even a world class manager like Rafa is outperforming all expectations but cannot be expected to have them anything but bottom. It's all a miracle until Ashley goes - then the Toon can spring back to the Champions League and take up their rightful place amongst Europe's elite.

As people have said...being the nugget that wont flush can often be worse than being flushed and refreshing again to come back.

Hate to say it but Benitez is a good manager and they are a well drilled, competitive side who could easily finish around 10th.

And unfortunately for their fans, that's exactly why Ashley won't throw big money around. They have no chance of breaking into the top 6 or 7, and he knows Benitez can probably keep the team up with one or 2 mediocre signings each season, so that's what he'll do. Benitez has no way of earning better money anywhere now, his ship has sailed, so he'll carry on carrying on, twisting about budgets and taking the fans plaudits. Its a proper stalemate, unless wich awab man appears, which is very unlikely.

When you say ‘we’ll drilled’, I take it you mean very defensive. Must be terrible to watch that week in week out though. Personally I’d prefer to watch a side that goes for it and at least tries to make a game of it, even at the expense of being a yo-yo club than to endure what Rafa is churning out.

See Rafa whinging again. No mention of the luck from the keepers mistake.
I have a theory that his negativity causes lapses in concentration from the opposition because they don't see the ball in their halves often.
